Just a question, are you referring to the 3rd period with about 1:30 on the clock?
If so, Aiello did not have control so no NF points could be awarded.
When Aiello takes Dean over at about 1:07, he is on top of Aiello so Dean is not meeting any NF requirements and Aiello is in "danger".
However, the view I had, we never see control awarded to Dean and, IMO, it wasn't there at that time when we see the official indicating green is in control. However, with about 53 seconds or so on the clock, he definitely has control.
Dean is then warned for stalling so that ended the situation.
AFAIK, the Virginia coaches did not ask for a review either.
OTOH, you might be referring to another time altogether.

Jim: There's nothing more American than complaining without knowing all the facts. The two political parties depend on it.

No I think we are talking about after Aiello got the reversal and they rolled through and he had Dean on his back for at least a 3 count but ref was out of position and even after a review he didn’t get points

Got it.
Now that I have seen this video, IMO, the back does not appear to be at 45* or less for any length of time. The other view could be that the offensive man's body was beneath the defensive man so there would be no way to be within the required 4". Remember that there are criteria for NF to be earned and 90* is not one of them.
The other issue about whether the official was out of place, I will only say this. The movement starts going to our right in the video (where the official is) and suddenly goes 180* the other way. Having had this happen to me, I could only wish that I could be magically transported to the better spot. I still move pretty quickly but no way can I do that.

Yep... i mean he did lose to the #2 but heartbreaking
I was rooting for Marinelli. He was gonna have his work cut out anyway if he won.

He certainly gave effort but you just can’t expect to be a finalist if you can5 get out from bottom.
Of course, Sammy doing Sammy things: give us a heart attack for 6 1/2 minutes then win.

He had the reversal. O’Toole was sitting on his butt, Carson had both legs with O’Toole locked through crotch — O’Toole RELEASES his lock and switched to other hip for lock and Ref #17 missed it. Then he clings onto Carson’s leg - which should be an immedite count for stalling — and ref #17 missed it AGAIN.

I thought when O'Toole released his grip, and Carson being in the position he was in, that the reversal occurred. Who are the ref's talking to on the phone when a challenge happens? Are they in the arena?
