Most people probably weren't surprised Logan Stieber won a national title in Greco. Well, it is a surprise. This was his first year of significantly training in greco and the skills it takes to win--especially on your feet--are a lot different than free or folk. I think it's a testament to his championship mentality that he won a national title in greco. Quite frankly, it might be his most amazing career accomplishment.

Who would sign this kid? What has he proved?
Actually, I think the FILA junior national championship in Vegas is more impressive than the Greco-Roman junior at Fargo, but who is keeping score?

Greg: I agree...sort of. Two amazing accompishments but very different in nature. Keep in mind that Stieber had never competed seriously in greco--and had little experience at it--until this summer.
Mark: When David Taylor chose Iowa State I saw it as a big loss for the Buckeyes. But looking at what Logan Stieber is accomplishing this summer, it seems that the Bucks have found a wrestler at least Taylor's equal. They just have to wait a year.

I don't think they will meet... I believe Logan is looking at 125 and I saw David at the regional track meet, he has grown a lot, I think I've read he is weighing 140s right now... hopefully I'm wrong because I would love to see that match up as well.

Just because David Taylor was 140 doesn't mean he would wrestle at that weight. Plus, him lifting and being a teen will do that. But I think if he doesn't decide to cut to 125, then we're going to see that match at the Ironman. What if he goes 130 or 135? Who else would be a good match up for him? What about Palmer or is he going to be at 140 or 145?

To win both the Greco-Roman and Freestyle championsips in the same year is just amazing. Especially when he hasn't been training that long in Greco-Roman from the info being passed on the forum. He will be such a star for the Buckeyes and they will win the National Championship here in the next year or so. They can't be denied. Too much talent. I can't wait to see Logan wearing the Bucks singlet!!!

I think it would be interesting to see Taylor take on Squire or Horner at the higher weight class.
