I see 4 tremendous matchups that could go either way: Jaggers/Russell, Palmer/Churella, Sponseller/Tannenbaum, and Pucillo/Todd. We need to wrestle like we did against Penn State at the National Duals and come out with all guns blazing! Having Tressel there is a great idea!

If Ohio State can win those critical matches they will win this dual.
125: Triggas favored
133: Humphrey favored
141: Toss-up
149: Toss-up
157: Marsh
165: Tannenbaum
174: Luke big favorite
184: Toss-up
197: Toss-up
285: Bergman big favorite.
Ohio State needs to grab 125, 133, 141 and 149 in order to win this dual. Sponseller could plant himself on the map nationally with a win here. Pucillo must defeat Todd which he has before and Ohio State will be sitting in the driver's seat to win.

Michigan's 125 pound starter, Jason Lara, has been "kryptonite" in the past for Nikko Triggas. Triggas has performed much better than Lara in college but Lara beat him last year for the CA state title. This matchup cannot be considered much of an edge for Ohio State. Also, Michigan's starter at 197, Biondo, has been out. If he's still out for the match than Weakley should win.

Didn't Triggas beat Lara twice last year, though? I want to say at Reno and one other time, with Lara winning one out of three, but just the right one.
Given the way Johnstone has been wrestling lately, I would say he and Marsh is a toss-up. Johnstone has been doing a great job of staying close, he just needs to finish.

Actually next meet against Indiana is going to be big for Sponseller, as Coughlin is ranked #9. Michigan has Watts at 125 also, but you would figure they would use Lara since he's beaten Nikko already.

125: Nikko Triggas (Ohio State) v. Jason Lara (Michigan)
- Triggas' credentials are a bit better but Lara won the state championship bout between the two last year. I'll take Triggas in a decision. Ohio State leads 3-0.
133: #14 Reece Humphrey (Ohio State) v. Chris Diehl (Michigan)
- Humphrey will win this bout. Bonus points would be great but they'll be tough to get. Ohio State leads 6-0.
141: #10 J Jaggers (Ohio State) v. #3 Kellen Russell (Michigan)
- Jaggers lost to Russell in their first matchup (I think it was in the finals in Vegas). Russell comes in at 21-2 and ranked third, Jaggers is at 15-5 and ranked tenth. I'll take Jaggers in an upset. Ohio State leads 9-0.
149: #5 Lance Palmer (Ohio State) v. #8 Josh Churella (Michigan)
- Churella was 2-1 against Palmer last year, winning in the dual and at the NCAA tournament but losing at the Big Ten tournament. Palmer is wrestling even better this year. I'll take Palmer in the closest of decisions. Ohio State leads 12-0.
157: Jason Johnstone (Ohio State) v. Jeff Marsh (Michigan)
- This is a match Johnstone can win. Marsh is tough but Johnstone has wrestled very tough against big opponents as well (Henning, Becker, Vallimont). This is too close to call but since I've given the edge to Ohio State so far I'll give one to Michigan here. Ohio State leads 12-3.
165: #13 Colt Sponseller (Ohio State) v. #3 Eric Tannenbaum (Michigan)
- Sponseller hasn't found his ceiling yet, but Tannenbaum is better than any opponent Sponseller has faced. Is it too early to say Sponseller wins this one? Ohio State leads 15-3.
174: Alex Picazo (Ohio State) v. #4 Steve Luke (Michigan)
- Picazo is tough but I don't see this ending well for him. Ohio State leads 15-9.
184: #3 Mike Pucillo (Ohio State) v. #2 Ty Todd (Michigan)
- Revenge is sweet. Ohio State leads 18-9.
197: John Weakley (Ohio State) v. #14 Anthony Biondo (Michigan)
- Biondo beat Weakley earlier in the year. Weakley has improved but I think Biondo still has the edge. Michigan takes this weight class by a decision. Ohio State leads 18-12.
285: #2 J.D. Bergman (Ohio State) v. Matt Guhn (Michigan)
- Bergman will win and get bonus points. A pin would be great and I think it can happen. Ohio State wins the dual 24-12.

I think it splits five/five. tOSU wins the first three. UM wins the next four. then 184 to Pucillo, 197 to UM and 285 to Bergman. I think Ohio State wins on Bergman's bonus points compared to Steve Luke's inability to pin Picazo.
This match could easily go either way and even be a blowout for either team. A Jaggers and a Palmer AND a Johnstone win certainly isn't out of the question, and many of you clearly believe Sponseller can beat Tannenbaum. If those things happen along with Pucillo's revenge, then the rout is on. On the other hand, UM
could
win 125, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, and 197.

I think that Tannenbaum is 70% to take the first meeting between these two. I love Sponseller but Tannenbaum is a pro. He's going to get the first takedown and ride Sponseller hard. If Sponseller can get out on bottom consistently, he'll wear out Tannenbaum and get the win, but that's a big if against a very good all-around wrestler.
I also think that Sponseller is the type to do much better against an opponent the second time around. Regardless of who wins, this match benefits Sponseller.

Hank,
Sponseller is personally in a no-lose situation, if he wins great, if he gets beat, well so what, Tannenbaum is a senior AA who should beat him. The pressure (and there will be
BIG
TIME PRESSURE
the entire match) is definitely on Tannenbaum <ill>

All Buckeye Fans!!!
This white out on Sunday has serious potential! One key reason Ohio State Wrestling is doing a white out rather than a sea of scarlet is that Men's Basketball is doing a white out the same day at 1:00PM across the street from St. John's. All fans at the basketball game will be informed on the video screen at the Schott that another white out is happening across the street, and Jim Tressel will be the honorary coach! This will encourage both wrestling and non-wrestling fans to support the greatest rivalry in all of sports.
Beat Michigan!!!!
Go Bucks!!!

Sponseller has nothing to lose in this match. I think he will just go out and wrestle his high octane style. If he doesn't get stuck underneath he has a very good shot of winning this match.
