285: Beatty, Pritchard, Schramm, McCaskey"

Just a couple of points to note...Few (RB) is going 119. I think he's right there ( maybe a step ahead, of Bivs. I think his move impacts thing more than some others.

Also...I only see three names listed for some weight classes... I'm going to assume that this was done on purpose to motivate those who don't see their name!!!

145: Smith (Hilliard Davidson) - He's not a sleeper. Nor is recent Rey'Burg transfer Miracle. Very talented are the both of them. I was told Smith (Dav) beat Crabtree 16-2! And then I saw on TV, Miracle dismantle Smith.

One last thing....Snyder (Grove City) moved to 189. I think he wins the District title big at 189, which will set him up nicely for the State tournament.

Snyder will have to contend with Newburg who looks like the leading guy here at 189. Newburg won at GMVWA over Thomusseit not an easy task to do.

Yes some were only three as my drew a blank and I was in class doing these mostly off the top of my head.

Davidson has a chance to qualify 103, 112, 145, 160, 171, and 189.

I think the chances lie in 145, 171 and 189. In my opinion, 103, 112 and 160 are as close as you're going to get as locks. But then again, it's that kind of attitude that doesn't get you there.

Stay focused, men.

Another point to note...171 - Brankamp (Thomas Worthington) - MARK IT DOWN!!!!!!! If there is anyone who can hang with or beat Faiella (CC), it is him. He was at DeSales for two years then left. He is making noise in DI Central District area.

You heard it here first!

I agree with Mark. Brankamp will qualify out at 171 which would probably push Gilmore out. I will have to disagree with Mark at 189 though. I too feel that the addition of Newburg has put a kink in the district title hopes of Snyder. Not that he can't win, but he most definitely will not win big.

Don't discount Ormiston from Teays Valley at 160. He has worked the hardest to improve on a pretty good TV team. He beat Green from St. Edward in the State Duals and has wrestled well all year. I put him as third best in Columbus behind Kline and Rice. That will probably be good enough to qualify.

The addition of Pritchard from Northmont at 285 will leave a Columbus boy out of the loop. Oglesbee from Olentangy may have had a shot but probably not now.

The addition of Riegle from Springboro at 112 doesn't really change a whole lot because most factored in state qualifier McSorley from Edgewood at this weight anyway and Edgewood will not be there.

Scott!!! Edgewood not being there makes a HUGE difference...at least in the 112 class. Last year he beat McCombs(???) in an earlier round only to get beat by him later. It might have been Millar?????? I know he beat someone and then lost to him later. Either way, he's one tough cookie.

Also...189...Go Snyder! Just messin'. I'm sure the other kid is tough.
...but Go Snyder anyway!!! <smile>

As for 285: A number of coaches and fans have been talking about the Newark heavy. If he's peaking, someone better watch out. Any given Saturday type thing I guess.

I think a lot will depend on how the boys finish in the sectionals, and how they match up at the Districts, but as of the way they are listed now there are 3 qualifiers from Olentangy. If things go right I could see a few more.

As far as weight class 130 goes, I think the Languis(SP?) kid from Scioto and Palmer from MF need to be considered for the top 4. Additionally, the fact that the three listed for 2, 3 & 4th are from the same sectional, it will be hard for all three to qualify.

Actually, Dave, wouldn't that help. The guy placing 1st will be put in the same half as the guy getting fourth from the same sectional. Now, I think the real question is, will the top three in one sectional still be able to beat the number one from another sectional. It could very well be the case...I've seen it happen.

Sometimes, and escpecially when there are three for 36 teams, some sectionals are "down" making a weight class or two a bit less competitve. I'm not trying to diminish any championship or district qualifier, but sometimes that's the way it goes.

Mark
I think it makes it easier for the #1 and either the #2 or #3 guy from the same sectional make it. However, then either the #2 or #3 guy must then beat two #1 seeds to make it.

Even then after re-reading my post and the related topics, the Olentangy boys need to worry about the sectional before they think about the Districts

Mark, I think that you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say. What I meant was that Riegle/McSorley or McSorley/Riegle is 6 of one, half-dozen of another. Both returning state qualifiers last season where Riegle won an overtime match between the two.

With Edgewood not being at Darby and Springboro coming over from the Fairfield Sect., the 112 weight class will not change all that much because Riegle will just win the matches that McSorley would have won.

The big difference with the addition of Springboro will be at 119 where Shivener will push somebody out.

You are exactly correct...I did misunderstand. No void anymore. And...you are also correct about 119...as if the Central District needed any help making that weight class any tougher.
