Too bad the coronavirus causes another wrestling program to be cut. Stanford looked like they had a good young program coming up. Studs at 141 and 165. Not really area of needs for the Buckeyes.

Not areas of need, but I would surely reach out to either of them. Woods and Griffith are each top five kids, as good or better than what we have. To have to have a few kids adjust weight class would be a good problem to have.

141 Echemendia
149 Woods
157 Sasso
165 Carson
174 Griffth
184 Romero
197 Hoffman
285. Orndorff
Not going to happen but that would be a stacked line up.

Sad news out east here as Kyle Rowan, Lake County Perry, is/was due to go to Stanford.

Stanford has the backing by the alumni. According to my sources, Stanford was offered the money to keep the wrestling program, but said no thanks. There is more to this equation than being discussed.

@BobP: personally, that is the most frustrating part...more to the story.
I’m pretty sure if a 2020-2021 season occurs, Stanford will compete. However, 2021-2022...they won’t.

If the 2020-2021 season occurs (Staying hopeful) I think most of the Cardinal starters stay this season with hopes that this decision may be reversed within the next year or so. I'm not sitting on pins and needles waiting to hear news about a Woods or Griffith transfer.

He'd make a great fit for the Bucks but I hate to see Stanford fall apart so suddenly. We could lose every west coast wrestling program almost overnight.

its tragic-- i feel terrible for my friend Tom Borelli's son, he built something there.
and its more than just W Coast, look closer to home. MAC schools who just learned Big Ten schools will not play them in FB due to Covid19 causing 3 non-conf games to be cancelled this season. Those were paydays for the MAC.

thinking further about it, its worse than i thought. Ohio St cancelled 3 non-conf games, 1 with Kent but Kent has others that could cancel (Bama?). Buffalo was to meet Ohio St too.
all MAC wrestling schools will suffer from cancellations. UGH!

Those football programs pay for themselves through those paydays. Otherwise they lose money.
Such a dmn shame. And its largely preventable. Everyone just needs to wear the masks for several months. It's within our control. And we won't do it. We can't even get politicians to agree on it. Why has the most successful nation on Earth become the stupidest?
