Why are these guys going to an Open this late in the season?

Maybe to try and get a few more wins to help with win % which I think is one criteria for seeding at nationals. Maybe a wrestle off of sorts for Jordan and Romero.

I don't mind one bit starters or backups are still trying to get matches in, if this helps them prepare for Big 10's & Nationals have at it.
Is there a list of wrestlers participating in this tournament available? I assume brackets won't be out until later this week.

Can’t get on board with a potential wrestle off at this event between Romero and Jordan. I think, by this point in the season the coaches should be making that decision based on all that has occurred to this point. My own feeling is that there is clearly a “best” choice here and I would hate to see the lesser wrestler on the post season mat due to familiarity or other circumstance.

What possible basis/rationale could there be for a wrestle-off between Kaleb and Rocky? Seems much more likely that Kaleb is simply looking for some additional matches for seeding purposes/work on some stuff and Rocky would like to wrestle some more before his seasons ends.

I would assume Romero is there to get to 15 matches, in order to go for an at large selection if he can't qualify at Big 10's.
Hubbard has 17 matches but 5 of his are against non-D1 opponents, which don't count toward the 15 match RPI minimum.
Rocky--same as Hubbard. I don't think this is any sort of wrestle-off at all, but rather a safety precaution in the event that Romero ends up being done for the season.
Hoffman has enough matches but is probably there to build some momentum and see his hand get raised a few times.

I noticed Ferrari is out for the season from his car accident. Hoffman came really, really close to beating #1 Dean & #4 Warner. That has to give him some confidence that he can go toe-to-toe with the top guys at 197 (at least in the Big Ten). Crazier things have happened...

Hoffman also more recently found a way to lose to Foy of Minnesota, a fringe top 25 guy. Losing close still counts as a loss. I’m just not seeing him with any more than two wins, hope to be wrong.

I’m curious who Bucks will go with at 157. Hubbard wrestled a backup at Minnesota and was pinned in 15 seconds. Wilcox has wrestled well but has lost to Hubbard before. Surprised Wilcox isn’t wrestling in this as well.

And whatever happened to Bryce Hepner? I thought he was next in line behind Hubbard.
