I am sure there are a lot of discussions to happen, but the thing that stands out to me are these old guys just sticking around and hi jacking the brackets, possibly taking away opportunities of kids that are 5-6 years younger than them! It's crazy to me. A guy like Tariq Wilson could wrestle kids that were in 7th grade when he was a senior! He had his magical run in Cleveland! How long ago does that feel?

Agreed, and it’s not done. We will continue to see this in the next couple of seasons. Teams like Ohio State have yet to benefit from it, but consider that of the eight guys wrestling next weekend four should be (eligibility wise) done this year, yet all will likely return. This is Sasso and Hoffman’s fourth year on campus, yet they have two years of eligibility remaining. Kharchla has three years on campus and three years remaining. It’s wild, but it is what it is.
On another note, I get so very irritated every year when seeds come out. I know the formula for rpi takes strength of schedule into consideration, but it doesn’t appear to manifest itself in the seeds. More onus seems to be given to winning percentage, but what value are we placing on an undefeated record against sub standard opponents. If I wrestle absolutely no one, why am I rewarded and someone else is given no credit. I guess we can blame the formula. Oh well, at least we know there will be fireworks from the first whistle. How about this for a first round matchup

141: R1: D’Emilio (OSU) v Kiner (Rider). Don’t tell me the Bucks coaches like that one

How about the ASU heavy at the number 2. What would he have finished at Big Tens? 5th at best. Maybe worse. He’s a Greco specialist and will be one of the first big seeds to lose, book it.
I like Malik’s draw. If he shows up I think the can upset the West Virginia kid. He drew into the most winnable quarter in the bracket, but his offense has to be air tight and he can’t get ridden like he historically has.
Lots of tough draws across the board for the Bucks. Round 2 will define the tournament for Ohio State. It’s highly possible that Sasso is the only guy that makes the semis, but I’m hopeful that we see some upsets. It wasn’t all that long ago when Ohio State was putting four and five guys in the semis. This is a different kind of team with a different set of circumstances.

I'm of the school of thought that there are more programs with tough competitors than ever before. And I think that unless you have superstars, everyone is upset prone. Some of the seeding was head scratching but that's always the case. I don't understand Dustin Plott's seed as an example.

Jared--you mention Sasso. I guarantee that PSU thinks they can coach up Bartlett to beat him second round. Sam has such a hard time with that kid. Malik's bottom work has improved a lot in my opinion although when he loses it's usually because he's stuck on bottom. Agree that his draw is solid if he wrestles like he can.

Kharchla can beat anyone if he can finish his shots. The issue for him is wrestling well in the third period.

A successful tournament for the Bucks would include 4 AA's and you have five candidates--Malik, Sam, Carson, Ethan and Kaleb. Five AA's would be outstanding. I'm less concerned with team points. I know Orndorff is a 2xAA but I just can't imagine he's going to pull it off again.

Since I'm always wrong, look for D'Emilio and Hoffman to AA.

LaMont (UVU) is not an easy out. Follow up that match with the WVU kid and those are back-to-back 7 minute matches that Malik will have to be "ON" in order to win.

MH typically beats "big" 125's when they haven't had a lot of recovery time after weigh ins. That's why he owns McKee. McKee is excellent several hours after making wt. But in duals he just wasn't the same wrestler.

I think Sasso beats anyone at 125 with relative ease.

I don't know. Suriano looks to be the same size as Sasso.

Sasso has OSU's best odds of reaching the semifinal round, but it will be hard.

To get there, he will likely have to beat Bartlett, who he has never beaten by more than two points, and Parco, who took Sasso to the wire a year ago at nationals in a one-point loss. Sammy's penchant for putting opponents on their back has mysteriously disappeared, so he's gonna have to grind out wins.

I don't hate Kharchla's draw. He'll have NCAA runner-up Wentzel in the second round in a rematch of a bout Kharchla controlled in December. I think he gets by him and heads to the quarterfinals against Missouri's O'Toole, who is excellent.

....TRUE, Ryan spoiled us, and will again.. but next year. This year Dano sees a more biblical outcome, "weeping & gnashing of teeth"

Just think if Sasso MFF in B10 finals he is probably the #2 seed worse case #3.

Jared, I booked it. Schultz is in the semis after an impressive win over Parris, the Big Ten's fourth best heavyweight.
