Next weekend the Bucks return to Vegas for the top regular season tournament of the year. The event will be broadcast on Flo. The field includes, but not limited to, Cornell, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, Michigan, NC St, Cal Poly, Oregon St, SDSU, Northwstern, and Navy amongst others.
Ohio State, barring injuries, is unlikely to have any #1 seeds. I’m hopeful that Sammy gets another crack at the Henson kid. Also would like to see Kharchla v Amine again. Romero v Hidlay, etc.

125
#3 Michael Deaugustino – Northwestern
#5 Brandon Courtney – Arizona State
#8 Matt Ramos – Purdue
#10 Brandon Kaylor – Oregon State
#11 – Malik Heinselman – Ohio State
#12 Antonio Lorenzo – Cal Poly
#16 Eddie Ventresca – Virginia Tech
#22 Jake Ferri – Kent State
#23 Caleb Smith – Appalachian State
#29 Jarret Trombley – NC State
#31 Kas Mauger – Utah Valley
#32 Eli Griffin – California Baptist
#33 Kurt McHenry – Michigan
WOW! What a weight class. I’m not going to go through every wrestler, I’m just going to give my pick, my dark horse (outside top 8 ranked guys) to make some noise and my prediction for the OSU wrestler.
Pick: Ramos. I think he shows that he is a serious AA threat this year.
Dark horse: Smith. He would be the 9 seed based on rankings, and I think he places top 6. I assume little Diakomaholis is going for Cornell, and I could see him making some noise as well.
OSU: Heinselman would be seeded 5th based on rankings, and I think he ends up in the 3-4 match. I think he beats Kaylor in the quarters, avenging his loss from last year, and loses to DeAugustino in the semis on riding time.
133
#3 Vito Arujua – Cornell
#4 Michael McGee – Arizona State
#5 Dylan Ragusin – Michigan
#7 Chris Cannon – Northwestern
#9 Sam Latona – Virginia Tech
#13 Jesse Mendez – Ohio State
#17 Haiden Drury – Utah Valley
#20 Kyle Biscoglia – Northern Illinois
#21 Boo Dryden – Nebraska
#23 Sean Carter – Appalachian State
#24 Kai Orine – NC State
#25 Chance Rich – CSU Bakersfield
#32 Jason Shaner – Oregon State
#33 Gabe Tagg – SDSU
Pick: Vito. He’s the only guy who can give either of the top 2 overall at this weight a match, and I’m not certain that happens.
Dark horse: Dryden. I could see him knocking off a top 8 seed.
OSU: Mendez can beat anyone at this weight. If he’s the 6, I think he takes out Ragusin in the quarters and McGee in the semis. I have him 2nd.
141
#5 Frankie Tal-Shahar – Northwestern
#6 Clay Carlson – SDSU
#11 Cole Mattin – Michigan
#13 Tom Crook – Virginia Tech
#14 Ryan Jack – NC State
#15 Cleveland Belton – Oregon State
#16 Vince Cornella – Cornell
#17 Brock Hardy – Nebraska
#18 Jesse Vasquez – Arizona State
#22 Cael Happel – UNI
#23 Parker Filius – Purdue
#25 Jordan Decatur – Ohio State
#28 Joe Greenwood – Wyoming
#31 Lawrence Saenz – Cal Poly
#32 Angelo Martinoni – CSU Bakersfield
Pick: Crook. The freshman has impressed me so far this year.
Dark horse: Vasquez. Another freshman who I think can make a statement here.
OSU: I assume we will see Decatur. I think he could beat Jack in a 12-5 quarter. I then see him triple dipping to 6th.
149
#1 Yianni Diakomihalis – Cornell
#3 Sammy Sasso – Ohio State
#4 Jonathan Milner – Appalachian State
#5 Kyle Parco – Arizona State
#7 Yaha Thomas – Northwestern
#11 Dom Demas – Cal Poly
#12 Caleb Henson – Virginia Tech
#14 Colin Realbuto – Northern Iowa
#19 Chance Lamer – Michigan
#22 Jackson Arrington – NC State
#31 Kody Komara – Kent State
#33 Isaiah Delgado – Utah Valley
Pick: Yianni. Can’t pick against him.
Dark horse: I guess Lamer. Not as much depth at this weight as some others.
OSU: I am not sure how the seeding will go, but if it goes on the current rankings, Sammy gets Henson in the quarters. If that is a first thing in the morning match, Sammy could be in trouble again. If Sammy has plenty of time to recover, I like him winning that and against Milner. I see silver for Sammy.
157
#3 Will Lewan – Michigan
#4 Peyton Robb – Nebraska
#5 Bryce Andonian – Virginia Tech
#7 Jared Franek – NDSU
#9 Ed Scott – NC State
#11 Kendall Coleman – Purdue
#13 Jacob Wright – Wyoming
#17 Trevor Chumbley – Northwestern
#18 Paddy Gallagher – Ohio State
#22 Andrew Cerniglia – Navy
#24 Derek Holschlag – UNI
#27 Colton Yapoujian – Cornell
Pick: Andonian. I thought Robb was taking a redshirt and I think Lewan loses one of his 1 takedown matches somewhere.
Dark horse: Paddy I guess. Again, not much depth here, but I could see him beating Lewan in a quarter.
OSU: I think Paddy gets by Chumbley this time but loses 3-1 or 3-2 to Lewan. Fights back to take 7th. This is assuming he’s healthy after the med ff from UNC.
165
#4 Cameron Amine – Michigan
#6 Carson Kharchla – Ohio State
#8 Julian Ramirez – Cornell
#10 Josh Ogunsanya – Columbia
#12 Austin Yant – UNI
#15 Mikey Caliendo – NDSU
#18 Tony Negron – Arizona State
#21 Connor Brady – Virginia Tech
#22 Enrique Munguia – Kent State
#23 Will Formato – Appalachian State
#25 Cole Moody – Wyoming
#26 Tanner Cook – SDSU
#29 Legend Lamer – Cal Poly
#30 Matthew Olguin – Oregon State
#33 Joshua Kim – Harvard
Pick: I’m taking Kharchla. I think he has enough in the tank to get to the matches where he will be rested, and then he can let loose a little.
Dark horse: Lamer. Think he can break up the bracket a bit.
OSU: See above.
174
#2 Mekhi Lewis – Virginia Tech
#3 Mikey Labriola – Nebraska
#5 Demetrius Romero – Utah Valley
#7 Ethan Smith – Ohio State
#9 Chris Foca – Cornell
#12 Phil Conigliaro – Harvard
#13 Cade DeVos – SDSU
#14 Lance Runyon – UNI
#15 Hayden Hastings – Wyoming
#21 Troy Fisher – Northwestern
#25 Sam Wolf – Air Force
#29 Jared McGill – Edinboro
#32 Joseph Walker – Michigan
Pick: Lewis. He’s on another level from the field.
Dark horse: Hastings. I could see him placing top 6.
OSU: If Smith was on the bottom half of the bracket, I’d take him to the finals. If he is the 4 or 5 seed, I see him 3rd.
184
#2 Parker Keckeisen – UNI
#3 Trent Hidlay – NC State
#4 Kaleb Romero – Ohio State
#6 Trey Munoz – Oregon State
#7 Jonathon Loew – Cornell
#9 Hunter Bolen – Virginia Tech
#10 Matt Finesilver – Michigan
#15 Anthony Montalvo – Arizona State
#17 Adam Kemp – Cal Poly
#20 Will Feldkamp – Clarion
#26 Jacob Ferreira – Hofstra
#27 Cade King – SDSU
#28 Ben Vanadia – Purdue
#29 David Key – Navy
Pick: Keckeisen over Hidlay, 6-5.
Dark horse: I’ll take Vanadia because he’s an Ohio boy, but I really don’t se one here.
OSU: I see Romero losing to Hidlay in the semis, close. Maybe in OT. Comes back to take 3rd.
197
#3 Stephen Buchanan – Wyoming
#5 Bernie Traux – Cal Poly
#10 Thomas Penola – Purdue
#11 Tanner Sloan – SDSU
#14 Isaac Trumble – NC State
#16 Gavin Hoffman – Ohio State
#18 Kendall Norfleet – Arizona State
#21 Tanner Harvey – Oregon State
#22 Jacob Cardenas – Cornell
#23 Silas Allred – Nebraska
#24 Jake Koser – Navy
#25 Trey Rogers – Hofstra
#30 Owen Pentz – NDSU
#31 Evan Bockman – Utah Valley
#32 Andy Smith – Virginia Tech
Pick: Buchanan, but I’m not completely confident in that pick.
Dark horse: Bockman. He took Hoffman to OT, I think he can knock off someone in the top 8.
OSU: The 6 seed would be perfect for Hoffman. I think he can beat Koser and then Penola as well and make a run to the semis. I think he then takes 5th.
285
#1 Colton Schultz – Arizona State
#3 Mason Paris – Michigan
#5 Yaraslau Slavikouski – Harvard
#6 Lucas Davidson – Northwestern
#7 Tate Orndorff – Ohio State
#8 Wyatt Hendrickson – Air Force
#12 Lewis Fernandes – Cornell
#14 A.J. Nevills – SDSU
#18 Grady Griess – Navy
#9 Owen Trephan – NC State
#23 Hunter Catka – Virginia Tech
#28 Zachary Knighton-Ward – Hofstra
#29 Tyrell Gordon – UNI
#30 Jon Spaulding – Edinboro
#31 Jayden Woodruff – Utah Valley
Pick: Paris. Ugh, I hate typing that.
Dark horse: Catka. I think he’s better than his ranking.
OSU: I see Tate getting 6th. I don’t think he can beat the top 4 here, and though he beat Hendrickson last year, I see Wyatt ouplacing him here.
Team: I think Ohio State places 10 and wins the team title.
Dark horse: NC State. I think they surprise and place higher than their ranking.
OSU: See above.
If I missed someone, let me know. There are so many ranked wrestlers, I may have overlooked someone when going through the InterMat rankings.

Richie Figueroa May be the guy at 125 for ASU. I like Vasquez at a wide open 141 weight. Has Buchanan (WYO-197) wrestled this year?

CKLV always a good tournament and the Buckeyes have been successful there historically. Not sure how serious the injury to DeEmilio was, but I’m hoping we’ll see him in this tournament.

My thought is that DD isn't coming back anytime soon if they wrestled Decatur. It seemed like the thought was to redshirt Jordan. I'm guessing too burn that, he's starting the rest of the season.

JLJ: As always, thank you for taking the time to type this breakdown. It certainly provides a solid snapshot for each weight class.
I plan to read more into tonight, but man - those first four weight classes (in a quick viewing) are DYN-O-MITE!!!
My brother and I have both said we have to get out to this event. Timing is awful in regards to my job, but I plan to be following along as best I can.
Go Buckeyes! I'm excited to see how Decatur does. Looking forward to seeing other Ohio non-Buckeyes too.

Flos light weight preview says Dylan is coming back from injury and will be the Bucks starter for Vegas.
They also said Feldman was going to wrestle at MSU open.
InterMat removed Dylan from rankings and put in Jordan.

He appeared to have made the trip to Chapel Hill and was geared up for practice the day before. I guess I would surmise that he was potentially going to start for that match and was physically ready to go. I dunno, guess we’ll see. The Bucks are better with him in the lineup. There is an enough of a case history for both that I’m not sure why it’s even a question. If Dylan is healthy, he is your starter. Jordan has had every opportunity to take the spot. He can pull out last minute wrestle off wins, but it has not translated to consistent data points in the win column. At the end of the day you have to perform, and he is still losing matches to borderline NCAA qualifiers. That won’t work for Ohio State, and I don’t think it’s reasonable at this point to expect anything different. I know no one is claiming otherwise. I just think they need to move on.

Someone must have offered Buchanan a lot of money. That's the new reality of D1 college athletics. His decision to transfer makes no sense otherwise.
