OSU takes on Northern Iowa, Lock Haven, and NC State.
UNI is coming off of a loss to Columbia, but bested the Bucks last year in this event. NC State certainly will be formidable. Just reading the tea leaves a bit, but Kharchla looks likely out. Feldman potentially too. I’d imagine we see some other 125s get a match or two. Likely to see Hepner, Welch, and Shumate as well. Event is being televised on Rokfin and takes place in Nashville.

OSU is bringing lots of freshmen as their lineups show a lot of multiple possibilities with Kilkeary, Gonzales, Cannon, Herman, Hepner, Welsh, Chase, Shumate, Rogotzke and Swenski all listed as "or". No Kharchla this week.

McCrone wins 10-8
Bouzakis loses 5-1
Mendez wins 4-2
D'Emelio wins 11-1
Gallagher wins 4-1
Wilcox wins 4-2
Welsh wins 4-1
Rogotzke loses to #1 Keckeisen 17-4
Geog wins 14-4
Swenski wins 8-2
UNI had 2nd stringers at 197 & 285, guessing they were so far behind OSU they were saving them for later matches.

I like the use of Kilkeary and Rogotzke in this event. Both are challenging for a spot at a weight of uncertainty, and both are currently slated to redshirt. Tom Ryan decided to toss them out against title contenders to gauge where they are.
Rogotzke got rocked by Keckheisen. No shame in it. Keckheisen is excellent. Kilkeary took a seven point loss to Noto.
My guess, which is subject to change, is both stay in redshirt.

Yes, wouldn’t have posted otherwise.

Bucks defeat NC State 21-20 in spite of winning only 4 of 10 bouts. Bucks won 125,133, 141 all by pin. Rocco Welsh won with a TD at the buzzer to clinch it
If Kharchla is out for the season, will the Bucks pull Welsh's redshirt?

And do you go with McCrone now? I wondered why he didn't have Hepner go in the NCST match? Thought a win there might have put it out of reach. Is Welsh 100% yet? See if TR does a press conference later. I have to admit the three pins in a row were unbelievable. Wow!

My assumption with Hepner coming back is that Hepner and Wilcox will man 165/174, but I'm basing that off of nothing.

That makes sense. This team is not built for a deep postseason run (with a few exceptions). No sense burning Welsh's redshirt.

Assuming Carson’s done, the smartest way to fill the lineup hole is with Hepner at 165 and Wilcox at 174. But the problem is Hepner is often unavailable for whatever reason. What do you do for a dual if he can’t go?
I’d keep all the freshmen in redshirt. None appear they are ready to contend for AA honors with the possible exception of Welsh. If we were seeing more out of Geog and Feldman, I’d say it’s all hands on deck. As is, this is a solid team but not one worth mortgaging the future.

Chase Carter has flashed some talent at 165. He'd take a beating in the Big Ten but he is capable of manning the spot if needed.

Could Shumate be working his way down and that’s why we didn’t see him yesterday?
