Freestyle starts Thursday.
I like Spencer, Brooks, Snyder, and Dake for gold!
4 golds at the Olympics would a great accomplishment despite Russia not competing imo.

I love Spencer Lee and would be thrilled to see him get it done. He has suffered a slew of devastating injuries. This is it for him.
Brooks is good enough but lacks experience. Will that show up?
Snyder is always a medalist but there are a couple monsters at his wt.
Dake has struggled in critical matches the last few years.
Taylor was our best bet but he didn't make it.
Parris and Retherford are capable of medals but less likely to win gold.
Or so I think. As Mike Rod says, "I'm wrong a lot."

Dake is a 4-time world champion and has only suffered 2 losses in the last 6 years - one to Sidakov in the 2023 World Finals and the other to Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov at the Tokyo Olympics

No strong disagreements with Nick’s predictions.
Dake wins in dominating fashion in what is likely his final competition. Lee and Brooks could both win but they worry me as neither has extensive senior level experience.

I think many people on here don't give Kyle Snyder his "due" already one of the greatest wrestlers in USA HISTORY.

I'll bite.
It's a 16 person bracket and follow your leader like the old state tournament in which consolation is referred to as repechage with its own format. If you lose in the first round, 2 matches gets you a bronze. Basically, each side to the consolation battles for a bronze. If consolation champions wrestled each other, it would be exponentially more difficult to medal.
USA wins 5 medals.
Lee 3
Retherford DNP
Dake 2
Brooks 1
Snyder 3
Parris 3
Probably would change things a bit if I saw the brackets, but that's my gut based on past performances and 1st time Olympic energy. Feels like medal bonanza.

Will someone explain to me how Micic, RBY and Austin Gomez, to name a few, are on non-USA teams? What is the criteria for being on a country's Olympic team?

I believe you have to have a parent or grandparent from that country - then you can represent them.

Brooks really shouldn't had taken that shot in the last 10 seconds it lead to the turn. Also I think he probably injured his knee with major torque the Bulgarian put on him prior. Just the inexperience cost Brooks chance at the gold imo.
