Rumors are out there Welsh is not happy he is being forced to RS and is considering leaving. Saw it on PSU board and Mineo mentioned it 2.

With the current environment created by the transfer portal and NIL enticements I don't understand why you would redshirt anybody that would contribute to your lineup. More often than not, your successful redshirt will be eventually collecting his 5th year as a grad transfer with a nice NIL deal elsewhere. What do you gain by sitting an NCAA finalist? Just my two cents.

I'll bet you're right, Dan. tOSU has no choice but to let the best wrestler wrestle anymore. Otherwise, they will most likely leave for more money.

Pat mineo is not a good source. He is a troll that likes to stir things up. He is wrong all the time.
I don’t believe this for a second. A coach’s job is to sit down and communicate with the wrestler what their plan/goals are for the year. If Rocco wanted to wrestle there is absolutely no way Tom Ryan would stop him. Rocco has earned the right to make that decision. To make him so mad he would transfer out would be ridiculous.

I see Welsh is entered in the CSU Open as unattached this weekend at 184. So is Cornell's Chris Foca who is pretty good. Hope they hookup.

Our understanding of the concept team is evolving.
If the coaching goals or teammates do not align with yours, what is to keep you from looking elsewhere.
Relationships can always be better, worse or the same.
Selfishness is what it is. If you label it as bad, probably being a hypocrite at some level as we all have to act in our own self-interest. It's just that some actions take on an appearance that evokes our emotions.
It takes a lot of things to win a high-level Championship; if the pieces and parts don't complement one another, good luck with that.
BTW, I thought Rocco did about as well as he could've in his freshman year. He didn't own an offensive attack to score on CS. But then again no one did.

Weird rumor, hopefully untrue. Agree with others here that it doesn't really pass the sniff test. If Rocco wants to wrestle I don't see any world in which the staff would stand in his way.
If he wants to go 184 I guess I could see them encouraging to test himself on an unattached basis first (which he appears to be doing) before officially competing on an attached basis. Anything beyond that seems like a reach.

High schooler Carson Thomas also registered. I will also assume Ohio St will be sending more backups to this event. Should be a solid tournament.

Especially hoping Davino will show up. OSU notables Gonzales(141), Cannon(157) & Herman(157) just showed up on the list for CSU Open entries.

Would be fun to see Davino at CKLV. Too bad they don’t allow a couple additional athletes beyond starters.

Just to let you know the same person that claimed Rocco was going in the transfer portal just claimed this. He wrote Doc B is the hardest high school wrestling tournament in the nation. Behind it are Ironman and super 32 lol. Anyone listening to this guys garbage is not very bright. There is no need to worry, Rocco isn’t going anywhere.

A year ago there were rumors about Nic Bouzakis wanting to transfer. Didn't happen.
That said--Bucks need to land some big recruits. I'm sure they're trying. But other than Maddox, who's on the way?

Rocco was not happy about being forced to red shirt. He was expecting to wrestle for the spot before it was given to Kharchla. Wouldn't blame him for testing the waters. If he leaves it's on Ryan.

One of the things I always appreciated about wrestling is that the winner of a wrestleoff gets the spot. That is even more important now with the portal being an option.
Let them wrestle and see who goes.
