Discussion Topic: Michael Mocco commits to the Hawkeyes

Saw this an hour or so ago. I have to think he was on The Buckeyes list of big targets, hate to see him go elsewhere. On the other hand, Iowa staying competitive in the near future is a good thing, imo. Would rather see this than him landing with Penn State or Oklahoma State at this point.

Mocco’s commitment to Iowa ratchets up pressure on Bucks to land the Raneys.
If they get them, the 2026 class is elite with three blue chippers. If not, we’re looking at another thin class with Adam Waters the only star.

Flo updated its 2026 Big Board.
The Raneys are 5 and 6 followed by Waters at 7. Buckeye commit Dekraker is 13, two spots ahead of Mocco. That’s odd to me.
St. Ed’s Karson Brown (Pitt) is 30th. He’s better than that, maybe by quite a bit.

Reading the tea leafs from multiple sites and poster on X the bucks have no shot at the Raneys
They will probably end up at Iowa. Basset has been actively recruiting other top prospects.

Pat: Iowa staying competitive in the near future??? They are already as competitive as can be? They have a probable AA at nearly every weight class. Ayala, Ferrari, caliendo, Kueter are all finalist type of guys also this year. They bring in number one ranked 197 pounder ludington. They are bring in Bassett and probably the Raney brothers. They are going to get number one overall Melvin miller. Bringing in top 10 guy deluca. They even are going to get Mocco to waste a year of eligibility to be behind Kueter.
Iowa right now is quite a bit ahead of Oklahoma state. They also cheat and call every single guy they can to bring in weights of need who aren’t in portal. They just paid Bailey 300k and Williams 400k and offer free housing and cars and those guys aren’t even finalist type guys. They have a huge budget and until NIL is fixed will always be top 2-3 teams. Even Peterson will be a top 5 guy they bring in who has a chance at finals.
Ohio state, Nebraska, and Oklahoma state are probably fighting for third. People are saying Carson is coming back and he can be a finalist type of wrestler if healthy ( otoole and Hamiti leave) like he was for first part of season. He needs to be on a limited schedule. Getting McNeil and Ohio state could score just as many points or more at every single weight class as last year.

McNeil just committed to Michigan.
Bucks will be luck to finish 5th next year at B10.
PSU
Iowa
Nebraska
Minnesota
Illinois/Michigan/Ohio State
Not sure what is going on in Columbus you would assume with Rocco leaving that freed up scholarship/NIL money.
Bucks need to figure it out soon because once Mendez is gone this is an average to below average team.

Pat Mineo is saying one of our biggest recruits is setting up visits elsewhere. I'm assuming he means Waters

He mentioned it on a Twitter thread. Not saying his name directly, but said their biggest recruit.

So Waters is probably gone and can you blame him? Who is he going to workout with?

Ryan's handling of Rocco has caused an awful domino effect. Good luck bringing in top recruits or anyone from PA.
Time to settle in until his contract is up.

So McNeil just visits this weekend and 2 days later commits' to our "rival."
This is all amid speculation that the wife of one of their coachs was making allegations and speaking of racism. Not saying to pick a side, but certainly controversial news that isn't a good look. He chose them anyway.
I'm shocked pundits on here continue to defend Ryan. What happens if or when we lose Shaw or Waters?

“ This is all amid speculation that the wife of one of their coachs was making allegations and speaking of racism.”
That is quite something, if true, and fatal to TR’s career. Source? Actual comments/actions of racism? Or was the wife the one being racist and not the coaches?

It was the wife of Michigan Coach Kevin Jackson. Pat Mineo exposed many of her allegations last week, calling out many individuals and making very strong allegations.
