Word is that he didn't pass someone's sniff test. Given that he was never charged with any crimes and that he was a good citizen at Cal Baptist, this seems unfair.

Next question--would you want him in Columbus?

Not a chance! FAR too much baggage. They don't need a cancer in the clubhouse.

Part of the problem is the transfer portal is closed, so will he be able to go anywhere?

Coach Ryan frequently recruits wrestlers who share his religious beliefs. Ferrari fits that mold.
I have no idea how the transfer portal situation impacts Ferrari's availability. Could he return to Cal Baptist?

But does Ferrari REALLY share the same beliefs as Coach Ryan? A lot of people think Ferrari comes across as fake and largely putting on an act.

Jeff: He comes across as over the top but also as someone who's using faith to overcome personal issues. That's pretty common as far as I'm concerned. I don't think he's any more or less fake than Coach Ryan in that regard.
I think, as Jim Behrens pointed out, there's a lot of baggage with Ferrari. He's probably a tough guy to have as a teammate because large doses of him might drive you crazy. But the talent is undeniable.

I don’t think they could be any different, though one can never tell what’s in a man’s heart.

Just to be clear...I don't think anyone is being fake when they discuss their faith.

You guys are right - there is no way for me, or any other man - to be 100% sure what goes on inside another man's head or heart. But at the same time, Ferrari just doesn't strike me as 100% genuine (that's my opinion - anyone's welcome to disagree with me), and there's no denying that someone in his position would have a lot to gain by putting on an act.
From what I heard from being around other college coaches this past weekend - as well as from a referee that has officiated some matches his family circus has been involved in - I personally would steer clear of him.

Nebraska wrestling just picked up a big time transfer.
Coach Mark Manning announced the addition of A.J. Ferrari on Saturday. The two-time All-American and 2021 NCAA champion has two years of eligibility remaining.

I have to wonder how long he will be there.
His act seems to get old very quickly.

I think Nebraska understands who he is and will have a plan in place. I'm sure Tervel will be integral to it.
