Fascinating stuff. His battle to deal mentally with his car accident....why the Rocco Welsh situation evolved into his transfer....the reasoning behind taking some transfers...How he sees the lineup potentially esp. at 125 and 133...40 plus minutes and I never got tired of the conversation. Excellent questions and honest answers.

As Jim Kessen mentioned a few days ago there are also interviews with Karchla and Feldman.

I hope the OSU website got this wrong but Davino is listed as a sophomore. Isn't he a RS freshman? He didn't lose his redshirt last year, did he?

He has four years eligibility left.

It was nice to find this on YouTube. TR was candid as always. I thought it interesting that his goal is to get back on the mat (I had assumed his recovery had gone a little better not having heard much) because he needs that feel and look to coach his best (i’m paraphrasing).

As we age, some of us try to continue to do things that were an essential part of our sense of selves when we were younger. I understand exactly how he feels as I battle a variety of age related issues. I hope he's able to get back on the mat.

I believe that the official website now lists the academic year for all athletes. I noticed the same thing in football.

197 sounds interesting, with Ryder moving up to what TR seems to think is a better weight, and Shumate also who improved last year and had a rib injury at NCAAs that we did not know about, and Geog coming off a season ending injury from last year.

Looks like redshirting is going to be a thing of the past. Wish we knew this last year. The new rule is going to be five years of eligibility for all. So you will be able to go to ncaas five years now. This will help us get some leftovers from Penn state and Oklahoma state in the future as those rosters are just loaded. The best kid will always wrestle going forward.

“Leftovers?” You mean all these guys that better than I ever could?

Yes at Penn state and Oklahoma state there will be a lot of very talented kids who transfer out. It’s just unbelievable the amount of numbers they are getting. Summer high school rankings of kids committed to Oklahoma state per Flo.

120 #3 zinkin

126 #2 Raney
#3 Ramirez

132 #1 Forrest

138 #3 Vega
#4 Raney
#8 Wilbert

150 #4 Hickman

157 #2 robideua
#3 routledge
#15 Guerrero

165 #1 Lockett

215#5 Johnson

285. #1 Ross

Remember Bassett brothers and miller may end up committing here also still.

Ohio state has 9. Shaw, #9 munaretto, #2 waters

Oklahoma state has more guys ranked in some weight classes alone than we do for the whole roster.

Penn state who has traditionally redshirted guys like P.J. duke and blaze will now wrestle the best kids with the eligibility rule change. Kasak and Davis may be in the bench.

If this new rule does come into affect I do believe we would get Mendes one more year which would be great.

Nick--Maybe they'll transfer? But if they're getting NIL to be backups at these schools, will they walk away from the cash? In other words, if you have enough money, you can buy the best starting lineup and also the depth necessary to help your practice room and deprive opponents of talent.

These kids are going to get a lot more money actually wrestling and in the lineup. Who wants to give significant money to a back up? If they are all American material like barraclough, Facundo, and Ryder they will transfer out just like what is happening at Penn state. No kid wants to ride the bench for years when they are good enough to all American.

I’m curious what the rationale for allowing five NCAA tournaments is. A couple of years ago, pre pandemic, I remember listening to Kolat speak about proposing an idea where you get five years, but four NCAA tournaments. That made sense to me. I could see a roster battle, injury, or just a red shirt type of year come into play. I guess it will all come out in the wash.

The answer usually rhymes with money.
