I’m guessing stiles and bouzakis don’t go tonight as the will prioritize winning against rival Michigan and only make them weigh in once.
How is Michigan falling this far? Ohio state would be favored in every match if cannon was going. McNeil and stiles are 1-1 against each other but stiles is ranked higher this season. With the amount of Nil Michigan has spent there is no excuse to have this sort of lineup. They have beat us for a few guys in transfer portal also.
McNeil, Cardenas, Soriano a few off the top of my head. Doesn’t seem like they even try to recruit much anymore and just keep filling lineup with short term starters. If I’m Michigan I think it’s a time for coaching change.
Looking forward to Zugitt Davino tonight. See if Davino can knock off his third all American.
Amos and Feldman should be good also.
Kilkeary and Nicola should be good. Kilkeary will be starter somewhere else next season. Had a huge win last week against Volk

Nick: I like Sean Bormet personally but he has sucked at developing talent. UM has remained relevant by spending on portal guys. If anyone at UM really cared about wrestling, they'd clean house and bring in a coach that knew what to do with the resources the program has. They should be top 3-4 in the country every year.

Bucks have hit the mid Big Ten speed bump time of the year. I wasn’t surprised that Kilkeary dropped his match coming off a great win over Volk. Rivera is very tough. He had two really controlled wins over McCrone last year and made a decent run at nationals. Stiles looked awful. He seemingly just dives in, shot after shot. Little to know setup, and no lateral movement. I wasn’t surprised he was gassed hard at the end, he spent most of the match underneath hanging on a leg. His antics to delay the match were pretty noticeable too. The back half of the lineup really carried the night. Great to see Birden open up. He has so much speed and slickness. Solid leg defense too. Here’s a question. I really hope that Cannon’s injury is just a short term thing. Speculatively, part of me wondered about Birdens start tonight and Paddy’s absence from the lineup. Could he be making a return to 157? I almost counted Feldman out there in the end. He pulls it out over a really tough Amos. Fun way to end the dual.

I don’t think he necessarily gassed but Amos looks a little pudgy at heavy (don’t tell him I said that) and Feldman does have a good tank. I actually felt good about his chances of pulling it out.
Stiles can be fun to watch but is just a sloppy wrestler. He’s good at scrambling because he has to be.

Some of my thoughts on the dual
Kilkeary- he is a good wrestler but just very inconsistent results. Never know what version of him you will get. Could lose to a Pitt backup or beat an all American.
Davino- another all American he knocks off in controlled fashion. He is very hard to score on. Still hasn’t been taken down in college. The best four kids may also be freshman at this weight. Seidel is very good also that people are sleeping on that just pulled his redshirt. March is going to be fun at 133.
Jesse-him and Messenbrink will battle for the hodge.
Stiles-I have no idea why staff decided to wrestle him. Should have saved him
For Michigan. Winning over Zargo does nothing for him. Didn’t need him and he was dead. All that did was hurt his big seed. Fell down in overtime basically because of exhaustion. Ref gave him like 30 seconds to get to middle. Should have been hit with stalling or injury time.
157-deselle got a few takedowns. Hope cannon is back by Penn state
165-Birden nearly techs a ranked wrestler. Needs to get better from bottom which has been his problem. Sometimes I probably don’t give him enough credit. I need to think back to where Kaleb Romero was his redshirt freshman year. Birden has the opportunity to get a lot better. Give him the experience to build off at NCAA. I think Birden should be the starter.
174-Kharchla dominated an untracked opponent. Staff hasn’t rested him at all this year. Worries me a little.
184-does as expected
197-does as expected. Wanted him to kick out and push for the tech at the end but it didn’t really matter team score wise. You just want the wrestler to prepare for that situation in the future.
285-Feldman has ice in his veins. Amos is very good. Only lost to Bastida 5-4 and kueter in overtime. His conditioning won him the match. He is Mr clutch. Just like against Ferrari to beat Nebraska and Davison to beat Michigan. He needs to get over the Kueter hump next week
Side note- yes Amos looks a little chunky but he is a tweener just like Feldman and Ferrari. These guys must get bigger to compete against the big boys. Really wish NCAA adopted the weights to coincide with international weights more. Kyle Snyder moved up to heavy also and had to wrestle giants just because he needed to be a little bigger internationally. There shouldn’t be almost 90 pounds between one weight class and 70 pounds between the other 9.

I couldn't believe how big Amos is, I remember him as a 197 guy, but his legs are massive and he had a gut on him, he has to be near 285. Glad Nick figured out a way to beat him.

I like this version of Nick Feldman a lot. He's poised and putting himself in the best position to win.
As for Stiles, what you see is what you get. He's good at getting to a leg and he loves to scramble. It usually works but there is no doubt he's making a huge cut.
Geog looked better last night because he rode his opponent effectively. That makes me happy.
Kharchla doesn't look worn out to me. But he's also not someone who needs to bust it every day in practice. Some solid drilling and riding an exercise bike are all he needs. That and working on finishes and rideouts in case he ends up in double OT. I'd say the same for Fishbach as well.
My guess is Cannon will be dealing with this injury for the rest of the season. His win over Millard looks pretty good right now as Millard pulled a key upset against Iowa.

Sorry to be off topic but if anyone has one extra ticket to Michigan tomorrow please let me buy it. Didn’t realize they would be sold out. I love the covelli but for big duals like Iowa, Michigan, Penn state it needs a higher capacity imo. Last night vs Wisconsin was near a sell out if not. Attendance for wrestling seems to be growing and maybe these big duals need to be put at the Schott to maximize the audience like they have in the past. Anyone one extra ticket would help me a lot. Thanks!

Just a side note: A few years ago I drove from Akron to Ann Arbor only to find out when I got to the arena, they were all sold out. I couldn't even find a scalper!. The ride home seemed twice as long... Live and learn.
