Congratulations to Tim Dernlan, newly named Head Coach at Ashland University. I think that program will do big things with him as their leader.

Dernlan did an excellent job recruiting at Penn State. I have no doubt that he will bring a lot of success to Ashland University.

Good luck to Tim Dernlan!

Tim is a fantastic coach, a highly credentialed competitor, and an incredible example of what most would hope their son grows up to be like. As a parent, I'd have no hesitation in putting my sons under his coaching and influence.

Glad to be in the neighborhood with some Dernlans again!

Tim, I'm 30 minutes from Ashland. I have a large barn. We can get mats. We CAN resurrect "The Garage!" <strong>

Man I miss the good old days. (Then again, I guess I don't really miss Steve's manhandlings <banghead>)

Sounds like a very sound hire for Ashland. Congrats to Coach Dernlan and the Eagles.

Congratulations to Tim and the entire Dernlan Family. The Dernlan and Jordan Families both helped put Ohio wrestling in the elite group of wrestling states. Both of these quality families will always have my respect for "doing it the right way", and setting the example for everyone else to follow.

Look for Ashland to be a "National Power" real soon.

Huge gain for Ashland. Dernlan knows Ohio just as well as anyone and will be make Ashland a force nationally real quickly.

We are a little biased here in Ohio, but two of the best coaches in the country, regardless of division, are now at DII Ohio colleges. Coach Nelson and Coach Dernlan will make for a heated rivalry.

I just hope that Coach Dernlan is not using Ashland as a springboard to a bigger and better job. I hope that he plans to stay for awhile.

As for Penn State, didn't Tim coach there as well? Matt came in after Tim I thought.

And here I always thought the Milkoviches had something to do with putting Ohio on the wrestling map. <smile>

By the way, how many Graham wrestlers attended their schools since Kindergarten? Not saying those kids don't work very hard, or that the coaches do not do a great job, but what exactly is the "right way"?

Both the Jordan brothers went to Graham schools from K-12. So do their kids. If people want to move in to the district more power to them. What is the difference between people moving to the Graham area and them attending private schools?

It would be refreshing to keep this post on track. <banghead>

Maybe every wrestling forum should consider having a permanent "sticky" thread entitled "Transfers, Recruiting, and 'Home Grown''" so that throughout the year we don't have to see a number of other quality threads highjacked.
