One day out, no breakdowns yet? Must be a busy week. The Bucks and the Hawks will be front and center on the Big Ten network Friday night. Should be another packed house. Iowa is reeling a bit. On Flo I believe it was mentioned that this program has only lost five duals or more three times since the 1960’s. Currently, they have four loses on the year (OSU, PSU, ISU, and Minnesota). Another loss to the Bucks and Okie State looming makes for a tough road. While this was a lopsided win in November, I expect a very different result Friday. Missing Cannon is substantial. Shaw will be the starter at 157. The Hawks also have question marks at 184 and 125. While the Bucks will be favored in a lot of matchups I do think some will be closer to toss ups then what the are on paper. I think 133 is an absolute toss up. It wasn’t close in November, and Davino has been a consistent hammer all year, but Ayala is a two time runner up and three time all American. This will be a match. I think Ben has more ways to score, but Drake is use to winning close matches. Close edge to Davino. I also think 149 is a toss up. Stiles won a close one in November, if he’s rejuvenated he can repeat. If Ethan wrestles like he did last Friday it could be a loss. We need Fishback to come thru in the clutch here as well. Sounds like Ferrari is dealing with injuries still, but Arnold is formidable. I look for Carson to get a win back here as well. Feldman is due a win over Keater as well. Bucks in a squeaker.

Probable Lineups vs. Iowa
125 (2) Nic Bouzakis vs (6) Dean Peterson/Joey Cruz
133 (2) Ben Davino vs (9) Drake Ayala
141 (1) Jesse Mendez vs Kale Petersen
149 (4) Ethan Stiles vs (18) Ryder Block/Kael Voinovich
157 Landon Desselle/Maddox Shaw/Daxton Chase vs (14) Jordan Williams/Victor Voinovich III
165 (17) Paddy Gallagher/e'Than Birden vs (3) Michael Caliendo
174 (5) Carson Kharchla vs (3) Patrick Kennedy
184 (7) Dylan Fishback vs Gabe Arnold
197 (10) Luke Geog/Seth Shumate vs Brody Sampson
285 (3) Nick Feldman vs (8) Ken Kueter
I hope Birden gets to wrestle Caliendo, Paddy hasn't beaten him yet. Birden lost in FS to Caliendo last summer 4-2. Glad to see Stiles back.

184: if Gabe Arnold - who is good - was to be ranked, where would he land? Top 15? 10? 7????

While I agree that Arnold is an excellent wrestler and tough out, for sure...this is a bout that Fishback should win. He can match Arnold's quickness and athleticism. Combine that with the fact that he's a legit 184-pounder and Arnold is a "utility player" whose best weight is 174, strength shouldn't be an issue either.
tOSU should win comfortably at 125, 133, 141, and 197. 149 and 184 should be competitive, but never in doubt. Feldman has struggled with Kueter in the past, but should be favored in this bout. That's seven matches the three with bonus possible for Iowa at 157 and 165. Duals rarely go as planned, but it shouldn't be close.
Although, my endorsement is often the kiss of death.

As I read through your first two paragraphs all I could think was "This is not good."

Thanks to Rod's post, tonight's dual is officially going to be recognized as a "donnybrook". Thanks, Rod. Thanks a lot.

I think that 184 should skip right to OT. First takedown wins.
My money is on Davino. Much tighter match than before but he'll find his way to a takedown which is one more than Ayala will get.

Tix claimed...
Hi all -
I've got two tix for tonight's match.
Was planning to head down but life intervened -
It's Dad's Weekend up at UM (?!) with my oldest boy.
So let me know if you can use these -
If so post your cell #, and I'll transfer them to you.
Of course first come, first served.
Great seats, mid-mat, four rows up.
Go Bucks!!

Nice win for the Bucs. Close match at 133 but Ben prevailed by fending off a last TD attempt by Ayala. Jesse is a beast! He will be missed next year. If Cannon was wrestling they would have won 8 of 10 matches against Iowa, hard to believe. I think Geog is starting to make his presence felt at 197, finally. And Kueter at 285 is strictly a counter wrestler, once Nick got the TD he had no offense to score on him. The key was getting the TD early so Nick chose neutral and did not get ridden by Kueter like he has in the past. Bouzakis was holding his back when he came off the mat, hope it isn't anything serious.

People are figuring out how to wrestle Nic. He has to finish that very deep single. He's still a near unstoppable force at 125 but the Big Ten tourney will present challenges.
