Penn State just landed a future multi-time NCAA champ from our backyard. Ouch. This is easily the biggest recruiting blow of the Tom Ryan era. If you want to argue David Taylor, fine, but he was always gonna join Cael. Losing Blaze hurts more.
The reality is, Ohio State wasn’t likely to win a team title with or without Blaze. Penn State is as loaded as its ever been. But unfortunately this cements it.
The exciting news? The Bucks are young and talented and will continue to sign good recruits. We are fortunate to get to watch Jesse Mendez, Ben Davino, Rocco Welsh and Nick Feldman.
Things could be much worse.

"We did not make Ross top 4 and Munaretto may be in play but his stock continuously drops also. Bad Ironman, bad state tourney, bad wno. He is a career 125 and we already have lots of eligibility at 125 with guys who are better."
|
Ah, gotcha. I was just looking at who took visits.
Swap out Ross and Munaretto for the Raney brothers then. Never got the feeling they would land in Columbus but that's not based on anything substantial.

David Carr was another tough miss. At least he didn't end up at a direct rival.

Brian, Mark Hall is also in the conversation. The Bucks had him until they didn’t. But if we’re picking just one, it’s Blaze.

How much did a RTC play into this decision? Right now the NLWC is the premier club in the nation. I have to believe this had a lot to with his decision.
My head says who can blame anyone for going to PSU but my heart believes in loyalty to your state. Of course, I'm a hypocrite because I never seem to mind when we pick up a guy from another state including PA.

Pat Mineo reports Ohio States offer to Blaze was "6 years $400K/year = $2.4 million.
Can we all agree that this info from Pat is questionable? Can I ask how he came to know this info? Can I ask for a track record concerning Mineo’s credibility? Are we allowed to question this!?
Losing Blaze - and to PSU - certainly sucks. He seems like an amazing kid - on and off the mat. But, with his choice made, I’m willing to proceed. …and avoid taking Mineo’s posts worth nothing more than the cyber ink it’s typed with. (Thanks, Hank. Good line indeed.)

The truth is losing a recruiting battle to Cael, there's no shame in that. By far the best program in the nation. The athletes who go there seem to get better, win titles, and progress internationally. What can you do? I know everyone on this forum will root for Blaze and other Ohio kids, except when they're competing against Ohio colleges!
I could be wrong on this, but didn't the Blaze family move to Perrysburg when Joey was a freshman? For some reason I thought I read or heard that. I bring that up because he may not have the gravitational pull to Columbus or the 'home state college' if he wasn't originally from the Buckeye state.
