Did you notice how mad Colt got after he hurt his ankle. Don't know if Rella twisted it or what, but as Colt lay on the mat he slammed his headgear down. And then when he returned to the match he seemed to have gotten an extra jolt of adreneline <angry> You don't want to get this kid angry. BTW I noticed Iowa sat Perry in the finals match against Nebraska. P.S. I definitely wouldn't want the job of ranking teams & individuals after this weekend <crazy>

I don't think Rella did anything to hurt Colt. But I was surprised by how Spons dominated the match after the injury. Rella looked motivated when the match began and his first td was nice. Then, it's like he went into a shell. I'm a big fan of Rella's and find it weird that he has struggled so much this season. I'm wondering if it's mental or is there another reason. Lewnes beat him 12-4 and those two were even a few years ago.

Plus didn't Rella have a good summer in freestyle tournaments?

Quote from Jack Muni's post:

Exactly.

That said...D1 wrestling is really tough. Also (and I have no idea if this accurate), if a wrestler goes to the wrong program, he can get "lost." Lots of guys end up at a school that doesn't fit them personally. I have no idea if this is the case. Just speculating idly.

I never thought Michigan was a good fit for Mark Moos. And I'll always believe Alan Fried would have been better off at Ohio State (in spite of his incredible success at Okie State).

"And I'll always believe Alan Fried would have been better off at Ohio State (in spite of his incredible success at Okie State)." --- could be true, Hank, theres culture shock for one thing in Stillwater.

btw, someone speculated why no Okla St in NWCA Duals ? i asked and an insider told me they have a young team, John Smith doesnt want to burn out his team-- and also Okla St meets many of those teams anyway in duals. A few years back Iowa did not participate, so it happens.

This is the third year in a row that Kent State has been nationally ranked. Andrassy is doing an excellent job there in getting his wrestlers to compete well at the Division 1 level.

I posted this in another forum, but the NCAA has decided to not recognize this event because of the lack of proper skin checks. All wrestling records from this event have been wiped out. This is some of the best wrestling of the season and I'm personally disappointed the NCAA did this.
