It is almost certainly Penn state or Oklahoma state. The rich get richer. Ohio state did not make miller top 9(now 8 as Iowa was removed). Once they do commit 11 of the top 16 p4p will be Oklahoma state or Penn state.

His top 3 are Okie State, PSU and Nebraska

Obviously none of us are close to this situation but for me personally I'd much rather have Forrest or Blaze than Bassett. Just seems like so much.... extra stuff.

I believe firmly in 'don't hate the player, hate the game,' but he has become increasingly less likeable to me.

I'm sure there's culpability on both sides in this one.

For the greater good of NCAA wrestling, it sure looks to me like we're staring at a decade of PSU vs. Ok State and all others will be vying for 3rd. Could be fun I suppose, but many fan bases will lose interest.

And it sounds like Bassett will turn 19 in August. I'm sorry, I know a lot of kids 'redshirt' in HS and it's to be expected. It still drives me crazy.

Bassett is the first true "influencer" we've seen in a wrestling recruit.

I think that is why he committed to Iowa in the first place. Even more so than the Brinks truck they backed up for him. What better place to continue to build, and own, your own brand?

That's also why I don't think Penn State makes sense. Bassett is really, really, good. But how do you stand out on a team with multiple world teamers on it?

Listen to this today. I know Chael is an Iowa guy and may not be as objective, but he does make some solid points. People rarely come to your defense; he comes to the brand's defense.

I have read on several forums that college wrestling will come down to 2 teams and most of other good teams will be fighting for 3rd. I agree that this will most likely hold true. I don’t agree that it will kill college wrestling.

For the record I’m not a fan of the NIL/TRANSFER PORTAL. Glad to see athletes get paid, but with teams buying wrestlers with the highest bid (I understand it’s not in 100% of cases) is getting out of hand.

My question is how has the landscape of college wrestling changed with NIL/TRANSFER PORTAL as it relates to 2 teams fighting for championships and the other good teams are fighting for just a trophy?

Ok. St in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s were dominate. Iowa/Iowa St in the 70’s and 80’s. Iowa/OK St in the 90’s and early 2000’s. Now PSU since 2010. I realize AZ St, tOSU and MN creeped up here and there.,but it’s always been a very few number of teams in the mix, so the end result hasn’t changed.

So, I listened to Chael and I've seen some snippets online.

The Bassett operation is run by the parents. The talking points are generated by the parents.

I agree with Chael that a decommit is a euphemism.

I don't even care for the Brands but I think they dodged a bullet with this one.

The Ohio State, please sit this one out.

What we’re seeing right now in this pay to play era feels different than previous iterations of the sport, but in terms of a power vacuum with one or two teams at the top, I don’t think that has changed. What’s clear is the RTC era seems to have shifted to a small portion of programs with Penn State and Okie State controlling a majority of the senior level roster spots. That matters for this youth movement of elite high school guys that want to challenge for senior level spots while still in high school. Take Blaze for example. He benefited from training at Ohio State for years but saw that a limited RTC was not going to extend his capabilities once he entered college. He needed a better environment. It sounds like that, along with some drama, might be part of the issue with Bassett. My thing is that places like Penn State have to become saturated in some weights, making it impossible to actually get on the mat for the college program. Availability and fit still matter a little

Evidently God wanted Bo Bassett to attend Iowa but then God changed his mind. Now Bo is looking for a new place that God wants him to be. I thought God wasn't fallible but as a non-believer what do I know? Oh, people are fallible. I see.

I'd be more inclined not to see this kid as a hypocrite if he were to choose a way-outside-the-box school headed by a devout coach with a strong moral compass.

Or maybe he should stop invoking a higher power all the time while constantly seeking attention?

Not my intention to offend anyone. But if you can't see the hypocrisy in Bassett's antics, I don't know what to say.

While at first I was very disappointed that Bo Bassett was not a buckeye I am now thinking the staff may have dodged a bullet. There is no doubt in my mind that the staff did more than any other staff in the nation to try to get him to become a buckeye and they were not even finalists for his services. I do not think it’s a coincidence that Melvin Miller did not have the buckeyes in the top 9 schools. The staff was probably pissed after not even truly being considered after all they did to try to land Bo and didn’t want to make the same mistake again wasting time and resources.

From what it sounds like Bo’s dad is a pain in the @$$ and demanding things and the Brands wouldn’t put up with it. I’m guessing Jax Forrest told them some of the benefits he was getting from Oklahoma state and he wanted to be provided the same benefits. They said we just wanted what other recruits are getting or something along those lines. Whenever these guys commit to next I would be surprised if they actually stay all four years. It’s going to be Penn state or Oklahoma state but the next problem for this family is when Keegan gets to college. I don’t see Keegan as a huge recruit currently and may have a real problem making these power houses lineups.

And I love how all these guys in wrestling day can’t go a sentence without talking about god. Ferrari, Snyder, Forrest and Bassett. Seems pretty fake to me. We just saw what Snyder did. We know Ferrari was doing it to try capitalize on it by getting back in a school and getting nil. Bassett and Forrest trying to do it to sell their brand. We know that Bassetts decision has nothing to do with God as he claimed, it only has to do with $$$$$ and there are only three places you can do that at. If it was really about God then the buckeyes should have been towards the top of the list as no one in the sport is a more uplifting Christian than Tom Ryan.

As for only being a two team race it still will be a three team race. Iowa isn’t going anywhere and picks up so many transfer portal guys they are never out of it. They will be runner ups this year. Once the brands are gone they will do much better on the recruiting trail also. I have a feeling the brands will be done soon and a huge replacement will take over and put them back on top. They have the financial support that the buckeyes need.

Bo Bassett will be on my personal list of wrestlers to root against along with Kyle Snyder, and Rocco welsh. But hey that how some of these guys make even more money. Connor mcgregor and Jake Paul made lots of money because you watch them whether you like them or hate them. Bo is a great wrestler but I would be surprised if he stays happy for four years af one program.

If Iowa finishes top 3 I don't see Brands' seat being too hot.

The biggest risk they have is some sort of investigation related to their NIL dealings.

Walking onto college at 20 as a true freshman just seems -- yeah.
