I wonder if it will ever get to the point where there are massive trades like major league baseball. Iowa will trade there 4 lower weight guys for two PSU upper weight wrestlers plus a future draft pick.

Rocco officially announced Penn state. Said he was offered a lot more money elsewhere like I guessed. Didn’t have anything negative to say about Ohio state and said he loved everyone on that team. His biggest issue seemed to be the lack of training partners and Ohio state couldn’t bring in good enough guys.

He did clearly state that he was angry about the situation at the beginning of the year. That was clearly stated

Brutal Welsh interview. He wasn’t brutal in it, just… the messaging is bad.

Well let's be honest, Penn State can offer Starocci, Brooks and Barr as workout partners, what does OSU have? In fact Brooks and Welsh both wrestled FS earlier this year in Croatia, got to wonder if they rolled around in practice?

If true, maybe Cannon goes back to 149 and Chittum goes 157? Brandon wasn't the biggest 157.

Yeah that interview was, eek to me.
IMHO, addition (to team culture) by subtraction (product on the mat not as good).

Some thoughts.
I recall hearing rumblings when Kerkvliet left. Rocco reminds me of that. Super talent but maybe a lone wolf looking for a new pack.
I see Rocco as more of a reattack, shooting off opponent's shot, wrestler and he has a really strong will to win. It will be interesting to see how his wrestling evolves.
Each transfer resonates with me differently. I was happy for Hamiti and Hendrickson.
We've come a long way from the coach having all the power and enforcing arbitrary rules set forth by the NCAA. I didn't really care for that as coaches can make or break careers dependent upon their personal opinion.
Everyone is an opportunist to some degree. The rules change periodically. What are the rules?
Some guys switch universities.
Some guys take ADHD meds. Huge advantage. T
Some guys use steroids. Huge advantage.
Some guys do anything to win.
Some guys see rules as meant to be broken.
Some guys give zero about rules.
In that context, rules are like opinions. Opinions are unique to each individual.
Everyone is playing by their own set; it's just a matter of personal opinion.
I think terms like honor, duty, service, and love are mostly empty when used in sports team context when money is involved. Everyone loves you when you are winning. Everyone is warm and fuzzy and likes to be on your side except for those you trampled on, on your way to the top and they might really have a strong dislike of you. What we are really are seeing is just excellent performance due to self-actualization. You don't become great by being selfless. So, are we really surprised that young adults are putting themselves and their perception of things first?

Not being permitted to wrestle off though he didn’t mention it in the interview.

Would Rocco have won the wrestle off? Kharchla looked like an NCAA finalist February this season. He can wrestle anyone on a dual or individual match. He should have beat Haines. Kharchla is not healthy enough to wrestle multiple matches in a day is my opinion. Again show me Rocco welshs best win? Edmond Ruth? 1-2 against and didn’t all American this season. . Lost to Gabe Arnold also. I will make a bet with anyone here he doesn’t beat Mcennelly or Ferrari. I think him and Ryder are 50/50. While it hurts to lose him I still think Ohio state can get third this season. He will get no bonus points and by getting two decent guys in portals can make up for his money that he would have been paid. Rocco welsh is worth 10-15 points. Allocate that to two decent guys and Ohio state can make out.
Even starroci is vocal about not liking Penn states move. Even though Cael doesn’t have to worry about the culture starrocci clearly writes go Ryder! I don’t understand the move personally. Im at the point where I root for Ryder. Someone is losing a year of eligibility. If Rocco loses he will be at oklahkma state next year. I honestly believe 2nd is best Rocco will ever get so Ohio state can still claim bragging rights lol.
Rocco also had some contradicting statements. I wanted to wrestle 174 but then couldn’t make the weight anymore? And wasn’t a full size 184. So I decided to redshirt? If you look at common opponents kharclas margin of victory was much better even though he didn’t perform when it mattered most.

You fell off the gambling wagon in short order... ; )
I'll take that bet, a year in advance, again.
Hayes: At some point before he graduates, during the regular season and/or NCAA tournament, Rocco will beat either McEnnelly or Ferarri, if they cross one another's path.
Lecklider: Same perimeters, but Rocco will not beat either McEnnelly or Ferarri, ever, during the regular season and/or NCAA tournament, if they cross one another's path.
$20 gift card to #PizzaHut, with oversight from Mark "The Mighty Cruiser" Niemann...bet?
Postscript: Who does McEnnelly wrestler for?

Rocco may wrestle Ferrari and Mcenelly 3 times each per year for the next three years. They would need to go a possible 18-0 against a top 5 guy in Welsh. Thanks for the great offer Justin but I’ll pass. This is NCAA wrestling where only 3 people went undefeated last year. Can’t predict injuries, bad weight cuts or illnesses either. Everyone is beatable. Allirez went from dominating champ to below average NCAA qualifier. Rby, steveson, Lee, Keikenson, and steveson all lost senior season after dominating for years. My point is I don’t think he will have the career that Ferrari or Mcenelly will have.
I’m not sure if you are joking or not but mcenelly is from Minnesota. 37-2 career record and his only losses was to 5 time champ Starroci in overtime ( only one to take down Carter this year) and top 5 p4p champ Keikenson in overtime after a crazy scramble. Mcenelly will be preseason number one.
