Payback for stealing the Mills bros?

I'm sorry Geog didn't achieve his goals in Columbus. I wish him well moving foward.

Both Geog and Shumate were good enough to All American this year. But, this tournament is beast unto itself and being good enough does'nt matter in general. It only matters during those three days in March.

Won't be suprised to see Shumate and Geog wrestle in the All American consolation matches like Paddy and Hepner did this year.

Ech to Nebraska

Ech and Robinson have both transferred to Nebraska. Is this due to money? Or is there a perception that Nebraska does a better job helping you reach goals? Or both? Luke Geog and Paddy Gallagher decided to get out of Columbus. My sense is they didn't want to be part of this program any more.

Something seems off in Columbus. Something seems on in Lincoln.

Conversely, Bucks had an amazing season until NCAA's. Rumors abound that multiple guys were hurt. So am I overreacting?

$$$$. Ohio state was said to offer echemendia and it wasn’t enough money. Echemendia absolutely went to the highest bidder. His domestic violence was over a fight with his gf about money. He is from Cuba and am guessing came from nothing. Ohio state does not spend a lot of money in the transfer portal. However they get better recruits than anyone outside of Penn state and Oklahoma state. I think they spend more on recruiting and try to build from within first and only get transfer portal if absolutely needed.

It doesn't bother me so much if the transfer wrestler is a senior/graduate, as most are out to get a last chance at the big $$$. It is very tempting. But if you are an underclassman I have to wonder, especially if you are a starter, is there another reason other than money that you want to go to another school?

I don't think Paddy has a year of eligibility left unless he gets a medical RS from a few years ago. Geog has one year left and unless he can stay healthy it doesn't matter where he goes.

Nebraska also added Cochran from PSU to fill the void at 184.

Provo is staying at Stanford.

James Green is moving from Nebraska to VT.

Norman to Okie State.

Meyer who visited Nebraska and now is visiting two ACC teams.

Portal news-related: Will Betancourt has been named Assistant Coach for Newberry College wrestling.

Doesn't look like he uses his final year of eligibility CC Slick Nick Lecklider.

He had a nice senior season for a guy who bounced around a lot. Rider seems to be a good landing spot for talented guys who need a fresh start.

Agreed, could see him helping out these kids at a smaller, lesser-kno9wn school.

It feels like 10 years ago Lecklider was talking about Willy being the next Stieber.

Smith missed most of last season due to an ankle injury. In the portal he is listed as 174/184 even though he wrestled 184 his last two seasons. I hope the cut to 174 won't negatively impact his wrestling, as he was a terrific wrestler at 184.

These one year rentals have pretty high variance.

That being said… if he can manage the weight effectively, and stay healthy while doing it, he’s absolutely a threat at 174.
