Bob,
Yes, J doesn't sound very happy here.
University of Minnesota wrestling recruit Jake Deitchler contacted head wrestling coach J Robinson Tuesday afternoon to inform the program that he would not attend the University this fall.
“It’s unfortunate that [Jake] has decided not to honor his commitment,” Robinson said. “We’re hopeful that upon returning home, Jake will consider following through with his National Letter of Intent and will choose to wrestle for the Gophers. The invitation to attend the ‘U’ remains open.”
I wonder how my old foe, Paulson, feels about Jake's decision?
Brandon showed his tremendous personal character in how he handled defeat in one of the best matches I've ever seen in Indy in '04. Deitchler had a heck of a coch in Brandon. He did a tremendous job training Deitchler.

Bob - There is at least one kid I think you might have left off your list. Maybe it's because he isn't finished yet. I think his last name is something like Stieber. Another one you left off, and maybe it's because he has one loss in Fargo, is Taylor.

Once I hit the lottery, I'll set up an endowment fund for some college to be the freestyle equivalent of Northern Michigan's Greco-Roman training center.
Sorry Harry, but after watching the Greco-Roman matches this past week, it really seems like a crap shot on who wins or loses -- and compare those matches action to the freestyle matches action (not much of a comparison). Seems like the better wrestler wins more often in FS than they do in GR. It appears that one minute is very short time to work offense against the best guys in the world.

Greg D,
Not yet imo, the bar is extremely high -- beyond Cejudo, Dustin, Metcalf and Hahn there are a number of other guys I've seen in the class with L Stieber & Taylor who I put slightly below my Big Four, as of today anyway.
Taylor had his great success at the lowest weights, which means overall the younger high school guys. Stieber is knocking on the door I agree and is only a junior next season so i can see him becoming part of the Big Five.
But I left out other super Fargo achievement guys that would rank with Stieber & Taylor: among them Troy Nickerson, Steve Mocco, Michael Mangrum, T.J. Hill, Sean Hage, Jason Powell, and Nick Simmons.
That's my opinion anyway, it's debatable for sure.

You forgot the best Junior Champion of all "Alan Fried" no one will ever match his feat of 4 FS in a row.

i didnt see Fried in Fargo---- actually i think he was in Jr nationals when it was at N Iowa University, so i didnt see him wrestle there. But he is still
the only 4X Junior national freestyle champion ever.
