The good thing about 174 next year is the top 5 guys now are seniors, with Labriola & Romero ranked 6 & 7th. I know Lewis may be 174 next year after taking an Olympic RS, but Kaleb could be a top 5 wrestler at the start of next year.

Quote from Jack Muni's post:

"I always thought the biggest log jam was going to be 165/174. Kharchla, Romero & Smith, three quality guys. Does anyone think Rocky could go up to 197? But if he did, which of the three would be big enough to go 185? I thought Kaufmann was going 285?"

I don't think Rocky is a 197. My expectation is we'll see Singletary and Hoffman at 197 and GTG back at 285.

Bucks could easily end up with Romero v Smith for 174.

Quote from Rob Wagner's post:

"Bucks only hope for a starting 125 next season is through transfer, and this needs to be top priority. Teske obviously comes to mind first, and there could always be 1-2 higher-caliber wrestlers who may decide to move elsewhere after the season. This clearly needs to be priority #1 and the Bucks need to pounce on any 125lbers entering the portal."

Teske already transferred to UNI.

A grad transfer 1-year stop gap could be a solid option, but there are only a couple of guys out there that fit the description that would be meaningful upgrades.

It definitely thins out, but Kemerer will get another year.

In addition to Kemerer, Labriola and Romero, you've also got Starocci (who's going to be a big problem for the next 4 years) and potentially Massa at the weight.

I thought Kemerer was a senior? Lewis & Massa both wrestled FS at 74 kg(163 lbs) this past summer, so I guess we'll have to wait until next year to see where they land.

He missed all of last year due to injury, so he's virtually guaranteed a 6th year.

Deaugustino is not a true #10. he was hot initially but has looked pedestrian in recent matches.

I came online to defend Malik, but just looked at the recent stats on WrestleStat. It's time for someone else to get a shot for sure, his losses aren't just to top 10 wrestlers.

My gut tells me this season has worn on him. His confidence is shot. Give him some time to heal mentally and he will be better.

I feel for the kid.

I feel badly for him as well. I think he wrestles hard and gives his best shot. His effort is not in question.

Small point, but it's Dylan Koontz. The one that placed at 133 at CKLV knocking off Kramer from ASU. He cut down to 125 for the Edinboro Open last week.

Couldn't agree more with both of you. Have never seen him dog it out there, always trying.

As I said in another thread, IMHO he'd be the national champ at 118.

I have been impressed with Dylan Koontz. It will be interesting to see how he does against DeAugustino as he is a know commodity but not a superstar.

For the few that might not actually know what Dylan Koontz looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_zp66_AUM4

And here's De Augustino: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LisCGi2IMOo

Similar body types, I can't see either guy just physically overwhelming the other, going to come down to ability, technique, experience, the X-factor.

Anyone know if this change was indeed prompted simply by the idea "that we need a change", or based on actual results in the room. I hope it was the latter.
