Although he never had an opportunity to win, Mills wrestled Chris Phillips pretty tough at Brecksville (I think?) something like 6-3.

The Buckeyes pretty much have Collin Palmer wrapped up thanks to Lance being there. I think they need to throw everything at Taylor who could very well end up being a 133 in college if he fills out. Taylor's services will be in hot pursuit come next year as Iowa State and Penn State are in the running with the Buckeyes.
I think that Bergman will end up being the 174 next year. I don't think Magrum will be able to make the cut down and be effective. Let him redshirt and then find a spot in the lineup. I think the same goes with Jameson who once he gets a chance to get in the lifting program could add some serious muscle to his frame.
Nemec is fine where he is and don't look for Kusar to be up at 174 he wouldn't be tall enough to handle that weight.

It is likely that Collin Palmer will be a four-year 149. Next year (2008-2009) he will be a senior and Lance will be a junior. In '09-'10, Collin will have to redshirt while Lance is a senior. From the '10-'11 season until the '13-'14 season, 149 is filled for the Buckeyes.
My question is this...
First, starting spots. If we do get Taylor and he does end up at 133, where will the spots be for the Monroeville 4? Will Hunter be forced to go 125 and Logan to 141? If Taylor can make 125, will we get Hunter for 133 and Logan for 141? What about Tessari?
Second, money. If we give Taylor "everything" and Palmer "everything" and the Stieber brothers "everything" and Phillips "everything" that is 5 fulls and it doesn't count Tessari or the other five weight classes.
David Taylor is an awesome wrestler and I'd love to see him wrestling for the Buckeyes, but there are a lot of factors to consider.

The Buckeye lineup in the 2011-2012 season could be...
125: Hunter Stieber - Fr. - 4x State Champion
133: David Taylor - Jr./So. - 4x State Champion
141: Logan Stieber - So./Fr. - 4x State Champion
149: Collin Palmer - So. - 4x State Champion
157: Tony Jameson - Jr./Sr. - 4x State Champion
165: Sean Nemec - Sr. - 3x State Champion
174: Casey Finnicum - Jr./Sr. - 1x WA State Champion
184: C.J. Magrum - Jr./Sr. - 3x State Champion
197: Chris Phillips - Fr. - 4x State Champion
285: John Hiles - Jr./Sr. - 3x State Placer
And that doesn't count Keaton Thompson, a 4x Alabama State Champion from this year's recruiting class. I think he won his title this year at 135 pounds.
Now THAT is a national championship team! WOW!!!

I like the lineup Dan. I could also see Jamie Clark as the 125.

Well we know that scholarship money is important, but the situation is the same across the country with other powerhouse universities. The Buckeyes need to just keep on winning and show the potential of this wrestling team to compete with the major wrestling powers year in and year out. From here, we as fans can only hope that the potential Ohio recruits see this, stay in state, and create some magic for tOSU. Right now the Buckeyes can help show off by bringing in the All-Americans and Champions this year to push the team to another top 10, dare I hope for a top 5 finish?

I think that both the Steibers look like a 133/141 to me with the build they have. I think Taylor has a better chance of being at 125 than H. Stieber. Remember Lance Palmer as a 103 his freshman year and we saw how big he has gotten. I like the look of that lineup though very much and it will be a dominating force to deal with for years to come if such a lineup were assembled like that in the Ohio State wrestling room.

I think it would be tough to say no if Cael was calling, and I hear he is big on Taylor (as is everyone, I'm sure).
Just a thought.

Does anyone else think we are jumping the gun a bit when claiming that SIX of our states best wrestlers will be in tOSU room in the near future. I'm all for Taylor, Palmer, and the Monroeville 4 (side note: that has the potential to be 24 state titles in that group, which is ridiculous)...but isn't that more of a dream than a reality?

It's a very real possibility, but it is only a possibility. Nobody is saying the Buckeyes will get them, only that we could get them.

Having multiple national champion caliber wrestlers at the same weight class for multiple years, they might not want to stay if they're not going to start.

For what it's worth, his freshman year he said he already wanted to go to Virginia (following then-seniors Harris and Gonsor).

Someone mentioned Jamie Clark. I like him a lot. Just a tremendous offensive wrestler with a great motor. And I love the Wadsworth kid, Brad Squire. Even though Horner beat him, his style is collegiate right now.
David Taylor has been 103 for two seasons and is now 112. He could eventually be 133 but that's not the case at the moment.
Bucks are not likely to get all the guys listed for the same reason they're not getting them all now. There's too many good programs heavily recruiting Ohio and not enough money to go around.
Key for the Buckeyes is to land the top 2-3 Ohio blue chippers every year. Not easy to do but that's how you win it all.

Hank that is a great point about getting the best 2-3 wrestlers each year from Ohio. I think with the kind of attitude they have in the room it could be possible to see kids like Taylor, Palmer, Phillips, and Stieber(s) end up in the room.

I don't think we're all claiming we'll get all 6, only that tOSU and KSU, OU, etc. are going to push to sign them rather than let them go to Iowa, Oklahoma State, etc. like the big guns tended to do in years past. It's always a shame to see these kids All-American or become champions for other schools instead of Ohio's own programs, and hopefully that will change in the next 5 years. Yes, some blue chippers will leave, but at least not as many of them as before.
