I really can’t stress enough that I think the state coaches association needs to get out in front of this. Form a committee, make some proposals. If you wait on the governors office or the health department it will be a total loss. Protect the integrity of the post season, even if it means a fraction of a regular season. Start by delaying until January to buy time.

As I said at our local officials meeting on Monday, I seriously doubt that the Governor, or anyone connected with the ODH, has any clue or idea as to what HS wrestling is. It is not high on their priority list of concerns.

That said, my guess is that once the FB playoffs are done, the OHSAA will release some sort of statement that participation is up to the local school boards, their administrations, or the County health departments.

As an assignor, I have been sending out assignments for the league I work for but I fully expect things to change a LOT. I told guys at the meeting that we need to be flexible and just deal with the changes that are sure to happen. Nothing we say and no amount of complaining is going to change the fact that the decisions are made above our pay grade,

I agree with Jim. I don't think anyone with any real power knows or cares what happens in a wrestling room...and that's a good thing (at the moment). If people knew what a traditional wrestling room looked like, it would get shut down quickly. 20-40 people packed in a room, no social distancing. In fact, it's the polar opposite of social distancing.

I for one am glad we're being overlooked. This is the first season in a while that I am able to attend regular practices and I'm having a blast. It's a nice break from all the crap that 2020 has brought us.

I can't help this anxious feeling though. I'm constantly looking over my shoulder, waiting for the other shoe to drop, waiting for someone to say, "you guys can't be doing this".

Mike: I won't attempt to speak for the kids but I will state that it's great that you're back in the room. I l ove seeing the pics.

As a point of note, we do our best to remain six feet apart, and designate the groups (of four) and those groups are contained to their area. Just trying to do our part. I'd hate to not see a second state tournament.

I agree no one in power likely knows the complexities of a wrestling room but I’m not so cynical to think they don’t care. I’m sure they do. But their likely ignorance might get in the way.

As of now the OHSAA said full speed ahead. With the supposed spread going on it still seems unlikely to happen but there remains some hope.

Ironically, Shaker Wrestling finally got a wrestling room. We haven't had one since 1998 and our practice facility was a nightmare. Everyone is excited but we are extremely limited as to what we can do at the moment.

My two cents--cut the schedule in half with ten points allowed. Sectionals, districts, states with no one in attendance. Ohsaa should live stream everything and charge for it.

Hank: I have zero issues with this. One add-on/thought - what if we put two weeks between District and State?

Jared the Coach's Association has been in contact with OHSAA since July. We have submitted documents and recommendations. What do you think the proposals should be.
