I don’t like the gray shirting thing either, but a lot of that seems to have been generated out of necessity from the Ivys. PSU just rolled it into the state university. I guess I don’t see a difference between that and having your kid repeat eighth grade prior to entering high school. I mean BoJo and Logan were both 20 years old as RS. It all about competitive advantages, and in the universities perspective it allows them to juggle recruiting with more flexibility. Frankly, it’s smart.[/quote]
Great point. Pot meet Kettle.....

I know RBY is outstanding, however, it didn't appear that Decatur was attempting to sprawl...

Let’s be slow to criticize the use of grayshirts at other schools when our own Anthony Echemendia is 33 years old.

IF you watch Decatur's "stance", he constantly stands with his knees locked out. Very few people at this level can react quick enough to defend from that stance, 2 Bucks'come to mind Jaggers and Sasso, but Decatur clearly cannot. Cleary is the same. Watch the OT takedown Berge got. Cleary's legs were locked out and then he got hit with the blast double. Just an observation...

Has to be hyperbole. He's 21. He didn't grayshirt because of wrestling, the kid had only been in the US less than a year before college.

watching tonite Penn st wrestle what amounts to an exhibition vs Md.... however its fascinating to watch a Maestro gradually putting together a team that will exceed prior expectations at big tens and at NCAA.
maybe, just maybe make Iowa sweat a bit.....the Maestro introduced Beau Bartlett sunday, Robert Howard the week before, its all coming together. now maybe kerkvliet who got a quick pin tonite??
not predicting, just sayin, it is fascinating.

PSU appears poised to exceed expectations at end of season. Will be interesting to see if they can pass some other nice squads like Michigan, Nebraska and Virginia Tech. My guess is they will.

174 - Starucci
184 - Brooks
285 - Kerklevit
Michigan might now have Micic and was said his return is 50/50

heres Am Wr News projected NCAA scores based on most recent wt by wt rankings-- certainly Penn St making significant move upward not reflected here, yet.
note that race for 4th place trophy will be difficult with so many teams in the hunt but ohio st is in range -- 7 teams within 10 points for a trophy---- if a few buckeyes raise their level and a few other teams falter a trophy possible, long shot but possible.
1 Iowa 174.0
2 Penn State 93.0
3 Okla St 85.5
4 Michigan 77.0
5 Nebraska 75.0
6 Virginia Tech 73.0
7 Arizona St 72.0
8 Missouri 71.0
9 NC State 70.5
10 Ohio State 67.0
