It's hit and miss. 138 Semi=finals, kid is winning 2-1 with 8 seconds left on restart and on bottom. He is hit with stalling with 2 seconds left in the match as he was just standing up. Yikes."

Hi Brady -
That's just not accurate.
It's fortunate for Casey Barnett, of course, that he got that call, with so little time left.
But your description does not paint the whole picture, and in any event is inaccurate, plain and simple.
Taylor was not coming to his feet with two seconds to go.
Rather, for the final five seconds, with Barnett applying no top pressure, Taylor stayed balled up, with his head planted on the mat.
That's stalling.
It was stalling when DeCatur did it, against DeSanto.
It's stalling when Taylor did it, against Barnett.
Barnett rode Taylor like a mule for the final two periods, spiraled and cranked the heck out of him, was probably turning him for the pin (he's Ohio's all-time pin king) with 37 seconds to go in the second, when Taylor screamed out, stopping the match for potentially dangerous. The first stall call was midway through the second period. IMO, the ref could have dinged him again, any time thereafter, because for the most part all Taylor did was block, prob for good reason, since otherwise he'd have likely been turned and pinned. He did come to his feet once (to my recall). But this wasn't as you claim, with two seconds left; rather, it was with approx ten seconds to go, with a quick potentially dangerous call. That left eight seconds to go. And with five seconds left, again, Taylor was balled up, with Barnett applying no pressure, with his head planted on the mat.
Again, textbook stalling.
So I for one was glad to see the call, although I would have welcomed it earlier.

Also, I'm out of touch with high school rules. But I'd welcome your input on the potentially dangerous stoppage with 37 seconds to go in the second. It was a simple (albeit brutal) spiral. How in the world can this be stopped, with no consequence? I recognize that safety is paramount. But I did not observe anything that was potentially dangerous there, but for Taylor going to his back. Maybe stop it, but give two back points?

Barnett did ride him like a rented mule. Why Taylor picked down is beyond me -- especially after Taylor had taken him down. They must not have every watched Barnett wrestle before.
What I did say is accurate. Watch the clock in the back ground. Restart with 8 seconds. Barnett does kinda rool through half which ends with Taylor on in a low referee's position with 5 seconds left. He clamps his arms together with his head on the mat with both hands grabbing Barnett's hands (or appears so). As the clock goes from 3 to 2 seconds left (so he was in that position for 2 to 3 seconds), ref hits him for stalling and he is standing up with 2 seconds left on the clock. If I knew how to screen shot (LOL) I could show Taylor on his feet and clock showing 2 seconds left. Obviously we differ in watching this match. Others can comment if they care to do so.
Side not related to this match, I'm not a fan of these numerous potentially dangerous calls when a kid is fighting being turned - if he's not being stopped from being turned. Even less of a fan of "screaming out" and getting stopped from being turned. I wish there was an automatic 2 near fall if that happens. But maybe that's just me.

Brady -
Per my view, the ref was making the stall call, before Taylor began to stand up.
Again, fortunate call for Barnett.
I would have liked to have seen the call earlier.
Could not agree more, re the potentially dangerous stoppage without consequence, while being legally turned.

The view you posted on youtube was better then my original angle from trackwrestling. You are correct, the ref called the stall with 3 seconds, Taylor was on his feet with 2 seconds left.
Have you joined out NCAA Pick'em contest? It makes the NCAA tournament even MORE exciting -- if that's possible!!

St.Marys (memorial) tied for their highest state placer ever with a 3rd at 106. He ran into graham in the Semi's and lost by 7. I truly thought the kid on the other side of the bracket was going to take it going into the finals undefeated and have 2 30 second pins and a 3 minute pin, but graham came out on top.

Yes he is.
As a matter of fact, both finalists were freshmen. So, no matter who won, they’d be on track.
Interesting note - they met up at sectionals and district...Ayoub won both.
