Brooks gets a gift stalling point then flees the mat and no call.
But Starocci runs for 6 minutes and no call.

So Brooks flees the mat to avoid a late TD, then runs from Hidlay for the final 20 seconds, and doesn't even get one Stalling call? When he should have lost a point?

It’s time for the NCAA to get rid of the challenge brick. I cannot remember the last time a call was overturned despite OBVIOUSLY blown calls. It would save so much time, and make the incompetent officiating less painful to endure.
If that isn’t possible, then at least make sure these guys aren’t getting under the table bonuses from Penn State.

I hope this was said tongue-in-cheek. Otherwise, the fact that you say/think it is simply insulting. OTOH, maybe being insulting was the goal?

PSU going 4-4 in the finals isn't an accident or result of any bribery. I'd have bet heavy on Fix and Kemmerer. Both guys got beat because PSU had superior strategy and their wrestlers were confident it would work. Lee over Eierman was another mild upset. And Lee won by hitting an inside trip! Who would ever have imagined? Not me.
Meanwhile, tOSU is still figuring out top/bottom in between periods....
(In fairness to tOSU, Cael also out foxed Tom Brands)

I have to vent, ESPN does a great job in covering the tournament, but last night I tune in at 6:55 to a college BB game on with 2 minutes to play. It took 17 minutes to finish the game. How many timeouts do these guys get? If it wasn't a timeout it was a foul being called. I kept thinking if this goes to OT I'm screwed. But man can they drag out the last few minutes. They were scrolling that NCAA wrestling was on ESPNews or ESPN app, neither of which I have. And the way Spenser Lee wrestles the first match would probably be over. Very frustrating. Put something on that isn't live prior to a big championship.

Time for observations and insights.
Some families are moving to the city in which their sons compete in order to totally support their progess. Ferraris and Carr. No better way to help your kid navigate. Although I don't think most coaches would openly embrace it, they are willing to do so for special talents.

Eierman relies too heavily on novelty. His nickname the Riddler came back to haunt him as he still spends too much time looking for creative ways to score. It is great to watch but at the end of the day; majority of your time should be focused creating situations that are more easily replicable like taking a shot, the guy underhooks you and then reattacking.

Training partners matter.
RBY/Lee
Starocci/Brooks
Pace matters. Someone gets more tired eventually and that translates into a momentary lapse of position. Fix's reaction in OT was like moving in slow motion.
The relaxing or wrestling differently on the edge played out more than once last night. The ugliest example was the half shot attempt by Parris in the first period.

Administrators at large schools like Stanford and Fresno State that cut wrestling are simply awful people without merit.

Quote from Hank Kornblut's post:

"Eierman got tired."

Agreed. As I recall it was near the edge of the mat with his back to the center as well. So, more than one dynamic at play.

It was meant tongue in cheek, and I might also add Oklahoma State to the joke. They have gotten some favorable calls over the years. Johnny Hendricks got some legendary calls.
Watching the Ferrari vs. Bonaccorsi the ESPN announcer actually said "Why isn't what Ferrari is doing called stalling?". I laughed out loud when I heard that.
