A lot of people don’t have high expectations for next years team but I think that third place is not out of the question. Ohio state will score significantly more points barring injury.
125 malik should continue getting bigger and stronger. Should score more points than this year. 6-8 I could see.
133. Same as this year 0 points
141- Decatur echemendia and D’Emilio battle it out. Hopefully one makes some strides. Decatur may be better up a weight class. At least as many points as last year
149- oconner moves up. Sasso vs yianni can’t wait for this. At least as many points as last year
157- Gallagher. This kid is special. Beat Facundo another top overall recruit that is going to penn state. Dominated Enrique manguia a very underrated prospect. This kid is a wrestling junkie and eats and breathes the sport from everything I have heard. Ryan is shown he won’t redshirt. There is a reason clearly is leaving. He has been the same size for three years so I think he will stay at 157. High all American immediately in my opinion. Plus 15-20 points at least
165-Kharchla- I think he would have won it this year honestly. Has beaten Wittlake and Lewis and smith. If he stays healthy title contender for sure. +5-10 points here.
174-Ethan smith- showed big improvement this year. Kaleb had a bad draw last year so Ethan should score more than what Kaleb did. +3-10 points as I see an all America
184-Kaleb Romero. Looks like he can get huge in the off-season and won’t have trouble putting on good weight. I belive Rocky was round of 12 and Kaleb should get on the podium. +5 points
197-Hoffman or Rocky. Have to score more than 0 points. I’ll say +3-5 points just to be conservative
285- Tate 8th place and probably about the same next year. All the top guys return I belive. We will say break even here.
Overall very much improved. The days at number 9 should be behind Ohio state I absolutely think third place is within reach. 149-157 -165 could be murderers row in years to come. I hear a lot of people saying 5-10 I just see improvement in every single weight class. If echemendia really could make 133 that would be plus points there but no way I think he makes that cut as some people have mentioned. Like bob said in another thread Tom thinks he can get a trophy and I agree. Gallagher might start off at redshirt but Tom will get too excited and pull it just like Myles Martin and I could see him be an immediate title contender. Fingers crossed on a healthy Carson. No weight class I see scoring less points at nationals than this year.

Gallagher just looks like he wrestles with an attitude. He should be the missing piece they need at 157. The log jam at 141 will be interesting. Hope Carson stays healthy because 149 thru 184 should be solid.

Betancourt is included in my zero points points projection. Ranked around 20 at 120 in high school and not in top 100 overall. Malik was ranked number 2 at 120 when he graduated just to say. Hope he does well but don’t have any expectations. Koontz may win this spot

If you can’t tell from this post and others Nick thinks this kid sucks and is a horrible move by Buckeyes.
Flo had him ranked 14th at 126 his Sr. year in HS and he won state at 120. I have no idea if he will be any good or not so will take a wait and see approach.

I'm never a fan of guys making a huge wt cut but Rocky and Kaleb looked to be at the correct wt classes last season. Not sure how a move up will work for either. I'm especially reluctant to move Romero. He was a top 6 guy last season who ended up not placing because Massa just blew it early in the tourney. Had he wrestled anyone else in the blood round, he'd almost certainly have been on the podium.

I like the kid’s bio. Improved every year. Father runs a club. Not every recruit can be a 4-timer.

I think in the best interest of the team, you have to have Karchla, Smith and Romero in the lineup. I don’t see any way to accomplish that other than Kaleb moving up, I don’t see the other two being able to get that big. My guess is that Kaleb would be pretty lean at 184. Remembering several years back Nick Heflin moved from 174 to 197 with great success. Only Jaeden Cox kept him from a NC.

Had to dig this out for some lineup talk:
Is their a possible scenario where Sasso moves up to 157 allowing Echemendia or D'Emilio to slide up to 149 and Gallagher to get a redshirt? Sasso has looked big before especially in the offseason wrestling freestyle. Does this give the Bucks a better lineup or is Paddy ready to rumble right out of the gate?

Your guess is as good as mine regarding what Sammy weighs right now. This was brought up on FRL Thursday as well. Sammy appears to be staying put at 149 as far as I can speculate. Him moving to 157 would certainly remove the log jam at 141, but then where does Gallagher fit? I think it’s more likely that Sammy stays at 149 and we see some combination of guys at 141. If all three guys (Decatur, D’Emilio, and Enchemendia)
Stay on the roster by this time next year I’ll be shocked. All have no less then three years remaining if they want them. I think the bigger lineup question results from the log jam at 165/174. Is Karchla injury prone? Do you really unseat a returning All American and sit him on the bench? I guess if you’re vying for a national title you do. This is a very deep and very experienced squad heading into this year. Outside 133 and 157 you have battle tested guys up and down the lineup. The problem with that is…that the window for growth begins to shrink. Will Malik get over the hump in the post season? Can 141 AA (they sure should), will Paddy start? Will Carson remain healthy, can Kaleb finally AA in what will likely be the toughest weight in the country? Is this crap or get off the pot time for Rocky and Hoffman (both on their 4th year)? If the answer to all of these is yes then I think the Bucks push back into the top five. If not, then the Bucks key their hopes on a talented group of potential prospects in the coming years.

I'm a big Gallagher fan but I'd love to see him redshirt and get acclimated. I wish Cleary had stayed. Obviously, he was unhappy. He worked hard to become serviceable and could have stabilized 157 for a season. Now, it's almost certain that Paddy will start.
Sasso could move up after this season with Gallagher and Kharchla sliding up a weight.

Lots of questions in the middle upper weights with many possible solutions. Gallagher should have a pretty solid training situation with Sasso and Karchla on either side of him. Like most I beleive Karchla is special and will contend for a title right out of the gate either at 165 or 174. Smith has improved each year and will be top 4 whichever weight Karchla does not go. I think Kaleb Romero should be plenty big to go 184 if Smith or Karchla pushes up to 174. I like Rocky but I think he's probably the odd man out unless he can move up to 197 and challenge Hoffman. Would love to see what Paddy's got out of the gate but could also see him benefitting from a redshirt. I suppose you could RS Decater and Ech this year and give Paddy the start then RS Paddy next year and slide Sasso up. Lots of options plus you may see more guys leave once they see where they stand in the pecking order.
