Discussion Topic: New Buckeyes assistant coach

Sam Sasso is as good a bottom wrestler as I've ever seen in scarlet and grey. He's not explosive but regardless of the ride employed by top, he's constantly improving position. I've seen some guys (the Nebraska kid comes to mind) wrap him up tightly with legs. He never panics and instead just methodically improves position until he frequently ends up with a reversal or escape.

I'd put on film of him on bottom against Nebraska and have him explain everything he's doing to get out. Then I'd have the guys do it repeatedly until it was second nature.

Remember that Sam had to escape with short time on the clock in the NCAA finals in order to even have a chance. Not only did he get out, but he was within a few seconds of winning.

"Well...if I am going to be outdone by someone in this hiring process, I'm glad it was these two.

Go Buckeyes!"

You were a close 3rd.

Had it not been for the Protection Orders...

Thanks, Justin. I appreciate the encouragement in my time of despair.

Hard to find two guys of higher quality that Bo and Logan. Any young man that is fortunate enough to spend any time around them will be better because of it.

True -- but Niemann once bailed on me for an Olympic Trials so he's OUT of the running. He's still "a righteous dude" like Ferris is so ....

Ugh. I will never shed either of these issues this side of the grave.

Each year I delude myself thinking that my picks are rock solid. And each year I end up in the bottom quarter of pickers.

Brady: Thank you forgiving me. ;-)

All was forgiven long ago. It all worked out great. Got to watch the trials with Tanner Smith and Tyler Wetzel so it was a great weekend. Plus I got something to razz you about forever so ... bonus!!

hmmmm, who would have guessed way back then?

While the Pac-12 ultimately hired George Kliavkoff as its new commissioner, Gene Smith is now under contract with Ohio State for the next five years through June 30, 2026, when he will be 70 years old.

Smith says he hasn’t made any decision, though, about when he’ll actually retire. Instead, Smith plans to take it one year at a time – but there’s still a lot more he wants to accomplish at Ohio State before he leaves.
