"Snyder lost 6-3."

Excellent match. Sadulaev was waiting on his low single and put him in danger immediately with a crotch lift both times.

Snyder fought back well. Kudos to him.

I got up at 530am to watch and saw a lot of great matches. Glad I did it."

yes Snyder has been well scouted by the Eastern Bloc thats perhaps why his progress seems to have stalled since 2018. Cael couldnt make a difference any better than Dlagnev.

Snyder's preferred go-to move the ankle pick wasnt there because the Russian was standing too tall, as John Smith said very early in the match. It took me awhile to grasp what Smith meant, he was right.

Saduliev knows its coming. Waits on this pretty much straight in single leg then stuffs him and tilts him. Really not a crotch lift, upon further review just a body lock. Got to get an angle on that single leg, like Taylor did twice to beat Yadini.

ironically i recall a number US wrestlers who fell prey for this body lock and tilt move off a single leg in international comp. Andy Hrovat in Beijing, J.D. Bergman at Worlds come to mind, only they got pinned.

I thought Snyder looked razor sharp for this Olympics.

yes sharp until until Saduliev who appears to have gotten in Snyder's head--- recall the twitter needling campaign Saduliev did on Snyder a couple years ago. Saduliev even patronized him with a pat on his bald head as they left the mat.

John Smith called it right away when he said "the ankle pick is not there."

I thought Snyder looked great. Sudalaev is simply a generational talent.

I was impressed by his left handed Hi-C to get his takedown, that was a new weapon!

I confess I am not that savvy about this "on the clock" stuff, but Snyder gets put on the early in the first period, and in the second period Saduliev goes on defense mode and stalls but never gets put on the clock, what's up with that? And regarding the tilts, how much do you have to be turned to get the two points, more than 90 degrees?

My understanding is that the ref is obligated to put someone on the clock if no scoring has occurred. Therefore if scoring had occurred in the second period, the ref is not "obligated" to put the other wrestler on the clock.

As for turns or exposure, the back simply has to break 90 degrees.

So Snyder would have been better off not shooting in the first part of the second period, just be content with hand fighting and wearing him down, get the one point "on the clock" call, and then take a shot late in the second period when Sadulaev was tired??

Quote from Joe Kinzel's post:

"What would have been the outcome and score had Cox faced Sadulaev?"

Cox isn’t beating Sadulaev now or ever. He got beat at 92KG and then withdrew. He is levels below."

Wait… when did he get beat at 92 kg?"

Over the summer at the Poland open.

92 kg: J’den Cox (USOPTC/NJRTC/TMWC) – 5th
WIN – Ilja Matuhin (Germany), 4-2
LOSS – Illia Archaia (Ukraine), 2-1
LOSS – Krzysztof Sadowik (Poland), MFF

Yes, absolutely he would have.
