I wish they would use a play by play announcer that had actually wrestled.

Gallagher will be really good when he gets to his finishes quicker. His hand fight is excellent .

When they refer to periods as "rounds" you know they don't know wrestling. I had to shut the volume off cause he was driving me nuts. A riding time clock would have been nice also.

Smith tonight looked like Sasso last week.

My "favorite" lines from the B1G+ play by play man,
After a Decatur takedown, "Decatur with the slam down"
Kaleb get a td & 4 NF to go up 6-0. "Romero with three takedowns now"
and the best for last "Orndorff wins by pin down with the decision."
Brutally / comically bad.

Smith is sick or had a bad weight cut. He could hardly stand up.
Good win by Decatur against a solid opponent. A third period rideout is never easy. I’m not giving up on him.
Kharchla looks like he stopped enjoying folkstyle wrestling. This is not the same guy from early last season. Having no real insight, it looks like the weight cut has sapped his energy.

I'm not joking:
Niemann and Hiatt could waltz into any tOSU dual and commentate in a compelling and understandable way.
On that note, surely Coach Ryan has the pull to designate someone -anyone- who has wrestled before to do commentary.

I don't have a great tag line like "pin down" but I'd give it a go.

Thanks for the tickets guys.
I had about 25 Watkins M.S. wrestlers go to the match. For most it was their first time seeing college wrestling live. And the Covelli Center is a great venue for it.

Didn't realize the kid who upset Smith is from Dublin Coffman. Also didn't know that Kharchla's opponent was ranked #12. And Decatur's opponent, St Ed's product Kazimir, was also ranked.
Not thrilled with the Bucks performance but Columbia appears to be on the upswing under Coach Tanelli.

I had no idea Kazimir was ranked 17 and the guy karchla wrestled was 10 (InterMat). that changes my thoughts a little.
to be nit picky, malik was up 16-4 entering the 3rd and got ridden the whole period
jordan got ridden 2nd period but returned the favor, and i didn't know kaz was ranked
karchla was going for major late and got sloppy and gave up td, wasn't that close and that kid is ranked 10

Three Columbia starters were Ohio products. Rini and Kazmir from St Ed’s. Wollak from Coffman. The Kharchla match was interesting. His opponent does have wins over Wentzel (Pitt), Ramirez (Corn), and Brady (Vt). So he’s not a slouch. I’d also remind folks that Conner Brady was ranked #1 in the nation for most of his senior year until he lost to Gallagher in the state finals. He and Carson essentially grew up together and likely worked out together for several years. It’s hard to dominate someone that familiar, much like an inter squad scrimmage or wrestle off. I did like that he’s been mixing up his takedowns more with his inside single on the left. Askren was talking about Carson’s offense being predictable. I think he’s more cerebral than that.
