My thoughts:
125 – McCrone beat Peterson 7-1, so he should be able to repeat that result and get to the quarters. I don’t see him beating Ramos, or really anyone else in the top 7. I see 8th for him.
133 – Nic got the worst draw of anyone in the tourney getting Teske (the toughest 14 seed, by far). Teske hasn’t been tested a lot this year, but definitely has the ability to pull the upset here. I think Nic gets the victory, as long as his weight cut isn’t an issue. I don’t see any issues with Madrigal or Norris in the quarters, and I think he gets a rematch with Shawver in the semis. I think Nic gets his revenge and gets to the finals. I think Nagao is there and I favor Nagao in that one. Runner-up finish for Nic.
141 – Mendez cruises to the semis and gets a controlled win over Woods. I think Jesse learned enough in the first match to get his B1G title over Bartlett.
149 – DD handles Stauffenberg but loses to Kasak. I think he battles back to place his seed.
157 – I think Wilcox at the 10 is great, because he can beat Lewan. He was extremely close in the dual. Even with a loss, I think he can beat either Chumbley or Blaze and take one of the AQ spots. I see 8th for Isaac.
165 – I think Hepner could finish as high as 4th, or as low as 8th. I definitely see him getting an AQ spot, I’ll go with 7th.
174 – Rocco Welsh, 2024 B1G champ! I think he goes through Wilson (the toughest 12 seed, by far), Ruth, Sparks and Griffith. Let’s go baby!
184 – Rogo takes out Riggins (the toughest 13 seed, by far), Bullock again, but falls to Salazar. I see him coming back and taking 4th. I don’t think he can beat the top 3 without a fall.
197 – I think Geog handles Wisler easily and falls to Glazier. I think Geog ends up 7th, losing his rematch with Poznanski in the consis.
285 – Feldman takes out Hill or Nutmacher and gets a rematch with Davidson. I see Feldman winning again. I think he has really learned so much about what attacks work for him, and I don’t see him taking bottom in the semis. I think he falls to Kerk and is your runner-up.
Overall – The Bucks get 10 qualifiers. The only one who could be in jeopardy is Wilcox, but I think he earns one and, even if he doesn’t, he would have a very strong case for a wildcard. I think top 3 as a team is in play. If things go as I predicted, a runner-up finish is possible. Go Bucks!
