Burton is currently 1-2 vs Andrew Sparks this year, and majored Will Denny from NC St. 2 guys Paddy has lost too this season. Gotta love college wrestling!

Quote from Jack Muni's post:
|
|
"Shaw was in on a couple good leg attacks but got stalemated. Definitely needs to work on his TD finishes and hit the weight room. He did that in a few of his earlier matches, got to the leg but could not finish. But he is just a freshman and has time to hopefully learn/mature.
Birden and Shumate make the Midland Finals. Birden vs Barbosa(Rutgers) and Shumate vs Cotton(Rutgers)
Vinnie takes 7th place."

Birden wins 4-3 at 165, beating the Rutgers kid who beat him last year in the dual meet in OT 2-1.
Shumate wins 19-5. So Seth beat #13 Sollars in semifinal and #16 Cotton in the finals. Rankings are from Flo. They have Geog ranked #10.

Shumate wins the title including major decisions over the #1 and #4 seeds.
If his goal was to give the coaches something to think about, he succeeded.

Paddy and Geog really need to step up come January, Birden and Shumate smell blood and they want those starting spots.
Hope TR and company can keep finding tournaments to keep these guys fresh and making their cases to break the lineup come March.
