Don't mean thus to sound mean, but he has lost in the round of 12 twice. You're right, it's really been the story of his season in almost all of his bug matches. He can wrestle with anyone and has terrific entries, just can't finish when he needs to.

Jeeesh. 1-9. Four matches that really were competitive, and the Bucks lost all of them when it mattered. Been a great, historic season so far. Get healthy and get ready for the post season.

Same old Buckeyes.
Mendez is basically on his own team.
Everyone else chokes when things get close. I wish it was going to be different this time, but It's been this way for a long time.
Also, I agree with the Flowrestling Radio guys who say that a three minute period should not be able to end scoreless with no one being called for stalling or both. I pretty much skip the first period any more when I watch a match because the refs do not force any action whatsoever. It's terrible for the sport. Freestyle is SO MUCH easier to watch these days.

Really rude, and uncalled for, to talk about college athletes that way.
These kids are actually in the arena, going to the bone against some of the very best wrestlers in the country, in some instances even the world.
Meanwhile you sit and stroke.
Your keyboard.
Get a life.

I’m sure this team is disappointed with tonight’s outcome.
But at least for the most part, I thought we really competed out there tonight.
Would have loved to have won at least a couple of the tight ones, especially Davino and Fishbach.
Ugh!!
It wasn’t our night.
Go Bucks.

What frustrated me was Davino had the leg in the air and let Blaze get to the edge of the mat. Fishback was doing everything right up to the last 30 seconds. It will be interesting to see the Big Ten seeds after these losses at 125, 133, 185 and 285. The bottom line at this level seems to be finishing shots, in these tournament matches a lot are decided by one TD.

I hate to break this to you but it is NOT the responsibility of the official to force anything.
What the rules actually do require is for the wrestlers to make an honest attempt to stay in the center of the mat and wrestle aggressively regardless of position or time or score of the match.
I can bet with 100% certainty that if a stall call went against your wrestler within that 3 minutes, you would lose your mind. If neither wrestler is trying to score, that is on them.
A call made just to make a call is terrible idea and a double stall might be the worst call in all of wrestling.

I agree. Bouzakis, Davino, Fishback, & Feldman were actually in the matches. 149 & 157 were outmatched. 165 wrestled one of the best kids on either squad and held it to a major. Same at 197.
No ifs, ands, or buts.
I like your point about “outcome” Casey. One can be frustrated with the outcome if best effort was given. You lost; got knocked down - okay, now what? Stay down? Quit!? HELL NO! You’re allowed to improve; to get better! Get up, dust yourself off and get back in the lab in order to flip that outcome!
B1Gs & #CLE2026 are coming soon.

Small things were the difference in the four close matches. The Bousakis/ Lilladaehl match will be very different the next time around when it’s not a two hour weigh in. That very likely can be the Big and National final.
Davino/ Blaze is always going to be by the slimmest of margins. I thought Ben wrestled an exceptional match for Ten and a half minutes. He was in position to win, and he got out of position on arguably the most positionally sound wrestler in the country in any weight. That match will always be a toss up. In my opinion, both of these guys can beat Bird. Jax Forrest is the wild card of the group, and I’m unclear where Seidel is in the pecking order as of today.
I was honestly surprised at what was unfolding in the Fishback/Welsh match. I don’t think I’ve seen Rocco get taken down and give up riding time like that ever. Maybe it was him being overhyped going against his former team. He maintained composure and melted Dylan in the last 30 seconds. There’s a reason Dylan is a two time round of twelve guy. He’s good enough to beat any of them, but to get on the podium he has to close out matches. Even Iowa was questionable. He’s close, but needs to find another level.
Feldman is a matchup concern against anyone who stops his first attack and can scramble. Nick is unbelievably quick, explosive, and strong. But he’s rigid, the way Kyle Snyder is. It’s not a coincidence that the Michigan kid and PSU kid beat him similarly. They can counter and force him to positions that he’s not comfortable in. What was more surprising was how consistently PSU was in on his legs. Nick needs to make the finals at Big Tens to secure a high seed. Right now it’s probably Michigan #1, and then a quagmire. His two wins over Ferrari are huge because A.J. had beaten everyone else. Might help him land as the number #2.

Some excellent observations by Jared, Brady, etc...
This was round 1. PSU will win the NCAA title but I was encouraged that Davino showed he can beat Blaze, Bouzakis can improve against Lilledahl and Fishbach can beat anyone if he can figure out how to close out a match. I wonder if he gets anxious towards the end of tight matches when he's winning? Or he's just exhausted.
I'm glad this dual is out of the way.
