Discussion Topic: Big Ten Tournament Brackets and Results
Hank Kornblut added to this discussion on March 9, 2008

Quote from Bob Preusse's post:

"Hank,
you're a former coach so u should know, but I see wrestlers all the time on their backs but in control and they are getting back points off that (I call it) Iowa tilt where they use their leg to tilt the opponent back to the mat???

adding to the puzzle, in a AA match at NCAAs last season, Pucillo is on his back tilting Todd of Michigan to his back but gets no points awarded (ref later told coach Ryan that Pucillo had "no control") --- then after a while in this hold Todd reverses Pucillo for the win, I thought that was strange, but I'm no officiating expert."

Bob: You can be on your back and in control. Typically this occurs when a wrestler is using a crab ride, or working a tilt--even a cradle. I cannot comment on why official do or don't award points in certain situations. Sometimes the official just isn't sure.

Great win for Mike. It shows how he can find his shot whenever he really needs to. Todd wrestled a good tactical match to slow down Mike but it didn't stop him. Pucillo rode well to finish.
