"Great insight Rex, as usual. I would also add that Sammy is offensive, Shooting wise, against 95% of his opponents. We’re only talking about a handful of people where he’s struggling to get to legs off of his own attack. Quarter finals on is where I see these types of matches occurring. Much of his success will also depend on his energy level. The further removed from a weigh in the more dynamic he becomes. This has consistently been the case all year. Lee is still his biggest matchup problem moving forward."

Excellent points as both guys wrestled this weekend were semifinals quality matches, maybe a quarter dependent upon how seeding goes. The more quality of an opponent, the fewer holes in their game to exploit. Both those guys were solid AA types with finals potential. 1st and second rounds are tough guys but typically will move out of position more quickly.

I really hope you're correct. J.D. is a great young man - but I'm selling on this.

Decatur looked like a different wrestler against Minny. I know his opponent was not a world beater but J.D. never appeared tired. That's a good sign.

possible gamechanger --- im told Kolodzik, who was taking an Olympic year, is back at 149. Adds a NC contender to an otherwise not strong wt-- maybe thats why Kolodzik is coming back, he thinks he can win it.

Now it makes sense. I noticed Kolodzik wrestled and won the Edinboro Open at the beginning of the month. I couldn't figure out why this guy was wrestling in a college open when he was an Olympic RS.

Kolodzik is a tough out but he's not a wrestler to fear at 149. He's another guy around the skill level of a Lugo and Sasso can take him.
The truth is that if you don't compete in the Big Ten, it's a lot harder to win an NCAA title. You simply don't wrestle the same level of comp. It's the same reason PA high school state champs are better than other state champs.

Kolodzik reminds me of Brayton Lee with his leg attacks and general offensive approach. I had heard that the starter went down for the season with an injury. Not sure that an ivy carries the same roster depth that a big ten school does. Probably inaccurate, but that’s what I heard on a podcast
