"Pat Mineo is reporting more and more that makes it appear that the "misinformation" story is just that - a story.
He reported the following: "USA Wrestling's new bar code system (scanned upon weigh ins) revealed Cox weighed in at 7:24AM and was over, at 8:00AM and was over.
He was told by someone, possibly his coach, (not USA wrestling) that he could keep trying, so he came back at 8:13AM and made it. Upon review USAW ruled it too late and Cox and team went with the "we had the wrong time" excuse which is now being shown to be a big stretch.""

If this is true, then that's that. He weighed in at 7:24am. He knew what was happening. If Kevin Jackson told him to keep working on it after 8:00am, then that may mean Kevin Jackson thought there were some strings to pull behind the scenes to keep J'Den in the tournament? If that's true...shame on Kevin Jackson. He knew the rules. They were not meant to be broken. J'Den simply did not make weight...end of story.

Little Late to the Party here. As much as i am for putting the best wrestlers on the team (even though i don't think he would have gotten by snyder) If weight was to be made prior to 8am and you were over, regardless of the reason, you didn't make weight.

this is nothing compared to 1984 olympic trials 136 lb Lee Roy Smith vs Randy Lewis ultimately decided in federal court which featured, as i recall:
...Four man round robin Ricky Dellagoto and Daryl Burley eliminated. Spot down to Smith & Lewis.
...Smith protest 2nd loss in 2 out of 3 format. Upheld.
...Smith wins 3rd match to win spot.
...Gable a former member of Protest Committee sides with Lewis. Committee unanimously rules for Smith based on tapes provide by bystanders.
...Lewis appeals to USAWR.
...USAWR Board upholds declaring Smith won olympic spot.
...Arbitrator decides re-wrestle of 2nd match--- the last 84 seconds only ---which Lewis wins 5-4.
...federal court upholds arbitator in battle of video tapes (from bystanders). The best tape initially used by USAWR disappears.
...Dan Gable censured by USAWR
..Lewis win spot in re-wrestle, then wins olympic gold.

Yeah -- that was a cluster and a major screw job of LeRoy Smith. No wonder why John Smith and Dan Gable don't get along.

Flo recently said that the Smith-Lewis saga is what they would most want to do a documentary on - if they could get full access. Not surprisingly, they said one side really wants to talk about it and one side doesn't. As if the story weren't juicy enough, they also said that the Iowa-Oklahoma State rivalry can be partially attributed to this, AND Lee Roy getting screwed is one of the things that drove John Smith to be the GOAT.

In an absolutely mind blowing situation, these two are the most egregious.

Right! John then beats Randy Lewis in the best of 3 to make the 88 Olympic team and the rest is history.

love to see this, and the bobby Douglas saga of the 1970s world team trials. There is a difference between fighting/advocating for your athlete and being plan dishonest.
Bobby Douglas jumps over the stands to make sure his guy doesn't default to Mocco because he isn't really hurt, and Robb Koll knowing Realbuto lost to Ian, acted powerless to do what was right. Both had opportunities to do the right thing. Please don't argue it was someone else's responsibility to make it right. We all saw it and at the moment the character was tested...they lied period. that match still gets to me, and the Heil match is a close second.
Terry Brands reminds us of what it means to fail forward at a goal. He has peace in knowing Cross earned it, though his pain was real, he can move forward to what's next(took him a while) but to have people just take it away, Damn not right decide it on the mat.
