A tough decesion??? If you are regarding Hoffman or Rotogotzke maybe. But you let Rotogotzke redshirt imo. Shumates career is over for as a buckeye imo. Tom Ryan has an easy decesion between those two. Even if Shumate and Rotogotzke wrestle 10 times and Shumate wins 6 Rotogotzke can pin anyone!!!! Im excited for his future. I wonder what the career pins record is for Ohio state? Rotogotzke already is 6-1 with 6 pins. I have a feeling he will own this record as long as he is the starter for four years.
quote="Jack Muni"]Ryan may have a tough decision at 184. Rogotzke had one thing on his mind the entire match, PIN! And when his upper body ties were countered he hits two doubles. What a match! Even McCrone didn't sit on his lead, he was trying to turn his guy. Great start to the season.[/quote]

Impressive win especially in light of Sasso being lost for the season. A year ago, the Bucks had high expectations but looked lackluster early.
Now, it's the opposite. Feels as if we're going to have to remind ourselves to remain grounded with this bunch.

Great Match, the team looks awesome.
Why didn't Bouzakis kick him??
He got the takedown with 21 seconds left.

I was thinking the same thing Rick. Even after he tried to turn him he still had time to cut him and try a snap down and go behind, much like Gable Steveson did in his Olympic finals match?? Head scratcher for sure...

Rick, at that point probably easier to steal a couple cheap swipes than to score a takedown. No good options.
The team looked outstanding. Even those who lost competed hard.
Where is Bryce Hepner? He missed much of the season two years ago and barely competed last year. This year, nothing through two events. Wilcox is a game competitor and until proven otherwise is the best choice for 165.

Andre Gonzales loses in the finals of the MSU Open to Dylan Ragusin 7-6 in overtime. Good showing, perhaps 133 is not a done deal for the Buckeyes. Both he and Bouzakis are on the eligibility clock. I think we may see more of him. Brock Herman wins the freshman-sophomore division while Vinny Kilkeary comes back to take third.

Some takeaways,
The Buckeyes as a team did a great job of non-stop wrestling and wrestling to win matches. That was a great performance.
Whenever that many things go right, it's a sign the coaches are connecting with their athletes and the wrestlers have bought in. Most noticeably are;
McCrone was hit with a beautiful duck under by Ventresca but conceded nothing and ended up with takedown and back points.
Isaac Wilcox gets the clutch takedown in 3rd period for the win.
Rogotzke was on his butt but kept wrestling and scores a fall.
Geog beats a top 20 by starting off at a sprinter's pace and then wrestling smart for the rest of the match.
Feldman scores the go ahead takedown in the last 10 seconds against a much-improved Catka.
That much positive in a dual is unique.
Also, Paddy is giving All American type performances. Andonian is a difficult match up for anyone with his unorthodox style. Paddy would have that first takedown with better recognition and skill and its' not that big of an adjustment. But, if you give Andonian an inch, he'll take a yard. Also, the second takedown attempt was a beautiful duck under in which he was slow to switch off. Those are two takedowns for Andonian off counters. Andonian came close to scoring once from his own initiation. Lastly, Paddy scored at the end with some quality scrambling. Overall, a strong performance which needed two adjustments to not just turn the L into a W, but into an excellent performance.
