Bousakis has some of the worst in match awareness I’ve seen for a D1 guy. If the quarters wasn’t bad enough getting hit with the same move five times he follows it up with an indescribable match in the bloodround. Over three minutes of riding time. He keeps doing the same thing over and over again. It’s like he panicked or something. I don’t get it.

Another review goes against the Bucks.

Bouz wrestled very uninspired. Very nonchalant when giving up that td and slow on bottom. Knox is an absolute leech on top but still -- ugh.

It was the clunker we were worried about.

So disappointed for him.

He had that opportunity to sneak out the back door and get a reversal, the coaches were yelling "shake him off" but he just bent over and stood still??? Very frustrating.

Great match by Jesse. And a really solid effort for Dylan.

Question: How was that not a TD at the end of 3P in Jesse’s match?

Question 2: How was that not a TD at the beginning of 1P in DD’s match? Henson is on his stomach and DD is laying on top of him.

No idea on either. They both should have been.

I don't think OSU won a review the entire tournament. Is this payback for winning the National Championship in football?

A very bloody blood round for the Bucks.

0-4 in the blood round. OSU with two All Americans. 2014 last time that happened (Stieber/Hefflin). You feel good for Dillon, but a Mendes championship is the only salve after this disappointing tournament

If you haven’t been paying attention, bucks never win challenges. Honestly I think it’s poor selection by Ryan

Congrats to Mendez!

Brutal day for the rest of the bucks. I know NCAA's are hard but yikes!

Henson had a whizzer the entire way. Close but clearly not a score.

Mendez was close but Bartlett moves so quickly. Refs got it right as did the booth.

Three Ohio high school products make the podium. Congrats to Lucas Byrd (Lasalle), Joey Blaze (Perrysburg), and Camden McDanel (Teays Valley) on their All American finishes. Fishback (Aurora), Shumate (Coffman), and Rini (St Ed’s ) were right there in the blood round. I’m sure I missed someone else. Bring home two titles!

A lot to think about. I'll start with something that has nothing to do with the Bucks:

Drake Ayala getting a video reveiw call for 3 was hard to understand. It just wasn't close. And you almost never see calls reversed. Jesse was closer to a TD at the end of regulation. I think Ayala probably wins that match but that call ended it. Can't help but wonder if someone in review land was concerned that Iowa needed a finalist so all those Iowa eyeballs would watch the finals.

Mendez win was exhilirating. That final heave he gave in OT was a lesson for any wrestler. And D'Emilio wrestled as well as could be expected. Let's face it--DD was not someone penciled in to place so having him wrestling competitively in the semis was gravy.

The rest...yeesh. 0-4 in the bloodround just hurt as a fan. In the bigger picture, Bouzakis and Feldman were supposed to be multiple AA's and title contenders. Right now they're 1-4 in terms of NCAA placement. And Joey Blaze is a finalist. Do I even bring up Paddy Gallagher?

What's the matter? Are they recruiting the wrong guys? Is it an issue within the practice room? Right now it seems as if Ohio State is barely treading water in a rising sea.

Maybe I'm missing the obvious? Other programs are just getting better. Tony Ersland is an excellent coach. Same for Doug Schwab....Mark Manning...Neil Erisman...

Even within the Big Ten we're seeing better performances out of Maryland, Indiana, Illinois and Minnesota.

I'm rambling. I need one of you smart guys to take my thoughts and form a coherent idea. Or tell me I'm stupid and make a case as to why.

Here's my premise--there's something wrong in Buckeye land. What is it?
