Quote from Roe Fox's post:
|
|
"“He stopped wrestling in high school because his school didn't have a team. But in his junior year, a neighboring high school needed a training partner for a standout wrestler, so he helped out. After seeing his success against one of the state's top wrestlers, his high school petitioned the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association to let him compete in wrestling, beginning with the postseason district tournament his senior year.”
Won 3 NCAA titles."

Who is this in reference to?

Haselrig.
The other list was a quick internet search that apparently lacked foundation. Even when I posted it I was concerned about the Dake reference because I thought I remembered him getting at least one.
It always helps to get top ranked recruits. It certainly doesn’t mean guaranteed NCAA titles (David Craig, amongst many others). Nor does it mean someone who didn’t win a title in high school can’t do so in college.
Maybe Koscheck, Gavin, Phil Davis, Bosak, Bonacorsi?

Not even a suggestion of Bousakis to 125. I think everyone on this forum thought that was some sort of pipe dream. Nothing immensely shocking; however, in the article Tom is quoted as saying “he doesn’t know what happened there” in reference to Rocco Welsh not following through on his multi year NIL deal. That quote lacks context of course, but at face value…how is that possible that he doesn’t know? At least I thought it was pretty darn obvious, but I’m not associated with the program. Just a weird response. Other nuggets of info mention Cannon already outgrowing 157. Maybe something interesting was what wasn’t mentioned. Nothing commented on Feldman.

Coach Ryan doesn't usually dodge questions but he allowed that one to pass.

I was listening to an interview with Bouzakis at the U23 tournament and he said making weight at 61 kg(134.2 lbs.) was really tough, so I could see him going up to 141 down the road.

If you weren't worried about ethics, you'd send Bouzakis to the MSU open, have him default out after a match or two, and apply for a medical redshirt.

Not sure that would work as he just won a FS Tournament last weekend defeating Strickenberger of WVU in the finals.

Bouzakis was destroying a still excellent Nate Tomasello at US Open before an injury cost him the match. He is distinctly better at freestyle than folk. Let him focus on RTC work.

Hank is correct. When evaluating Nic’s success at Ohio State it’s unfair to ignore his freestyle accomplishments. This is his second or third world team since arriving. That’s great.
Also, he’s pretty darn good in folkstyle. I’ve not given 133 to Davino just yet.

If Bouzakis can work on his go-too take down he may see a lot of success. I don't see him getting ridden out by anyone and he has the potential to ride most 133's. Leg defense and the mentality at the end of matches have been whats costed him in the past.
