So gun and drug charges are less offensive than “spygate” and “deflategate”? Can you walk me through your thought process on that?

I believe it was a marijuana charge which would be legal in most states. The gun charge was probably bc he was scared after getting robbed and shot. It might have been not registered or something. There are considerations people must take for his specific condition.
Were Kraft and bellichick directly involved with the cheating scandals? Not sure that it was ever proven. It was definitely taking into consideration on the hall of fame voting. It was a way the voters were trying to punish them. I don’t know how these guys think it’s just a guess. You have to have some sort of reason to not give who is considered the best coach ever a hall of fame rejection on the first ballot. Maybe he never gets in but I doubt it.
Sasso charges were eventually dropped or reduced I believe. I have no idea the complete criteria into hall of fame for either organization. He may or may not get in. But if both have a black mark against you the gretaest ever coach will get the benefit or the doubt before someone like Sasso who may be borderline hall of famer since he never got a national championship. I’m not saying Sasso won’t get in but it could be brought up when saying nominees. He could also get nominated for his comeback story alone. Who knows what gets brought up in these discussions. His charges were enough for him to get fired from his coaching job however.
Antonio brown was the best wr in the league for probably 5 years. If he acted like a normal human he would undoubtedly be a hall of famer based on his performance in the nfl. Every league and organization holds different standards. He is the only wr to ever have 6 seasons straight of 1200 yards and 100 receptions.

"Roe…Do you think that off the field issues should keep people from their respective Halls of Fame? I’m not picking a fight of anything, it just seemed like a solid topic for forum discussion.
I think Bob Kraft is a piece of shit, but Halls of Fame are full of pieces of shit."

I love these discussions so no fight picked. I’m not sure Kraft gets in on merit, personally, but I don’t think that offense shouldn’t prohibit him from the hall. I was just amazed at the outrage that he wasn’t a first ballot guy.
Snyder’s offense shouldn’t preclude him, in my opinion.
Killing your ex-spouse, drug trafficking, rape, domestic violence…society has to stand for something. In the end, sports are sports and life is life. It’s hard for me to think those things shouldn’t matter. People forfeit so much more in life for those offenses than a hall of fame entry.

That’s just reasonable all the way around.

"I know that Rocco was an NCAA runner up and I still feel that he is performing at a higher level. Pure eye test, he has a more aggressive and deeper offensive arsenal now. I never said that Ohio State didn't develop their wrestlers but Penn State seems to be in class of their own in that regard. Although, I must admit that I am still waiting on our 165 and 197ers "to jump levels". Not sure I can point to the Penn State lineup and say anything in that regard. What elite athlete wouldn't want to be apart of that success rate?
As far Snyder, we are human. We sin. We struggle to live a Godly life on a daily basis. I choose to forgive and recognize and appreciate his talent.
Mike Rod, dead on again."

Agree ... with almost everything here. Only thing I question is that Welsh has jumped levels at PSU. He COULD have jumped solely because he is there. It's also true that it COULD be due to him being two years older / more experienced at the collegiate level than we last saw him. Shoot, if Mendez took a RS after year 1, than transferred and won a title, that school would be credited for something that would have happened (actually did happen) at tOSU.

That is very fair to consider. One thing for sure is that he hasn't taken a step back.

Most wrestlers get better from their true freshman year. Mendez was 19-9. 90 percent of wrestlers are better their third year than their first. Davino is undoubtedly better also. To say it’s all because of Penn state is false. He hasn’t even been there a full year. So if Rocco gets 3rd or 4th did he regress? Looks like he’s getting better but he looked very good while redshirting for Ohio state last year.
Bernie traux did worse than cal poly. Nagao did worse than Minnesota. Conel did worse than Kent State. Not sure Rocco is in finals either. Will betancourt didn’t make an improvement from Ohio state. Where is evidence that transfers have gotten significantly better?
The simple answer is Cael gets basically every recruit Cael wants. He even gets backups to stay and sit bench. You get world champions to commit yearly of course you will win. Then you have the pockets to pick up guys off transfer portal. Burnett committed to Penn state and I’m not sure ever starts. Cael has the best rtc partners, best nil, best recruits, best home state. He is set up for success. I just won’t say Rocco is only better because he went to Penn state. He was on a curve to get better at Ohio state also. Kyle Snyder beat Saduloev at Ohio state not Penn state.
