Nicholson is not a major prospect. He is there for depth. He is not anywhere near Boyle or Feldman. He is strictly there to add depth in case of injury or rest. You always need two heavy’s. Ohio state only had one last year. Feldman should have been sitting more. You never know Ohio state got a hidden gem out of gas tank Gary. But a backup heavy was a strict priority this offseason and he was probably the best available uncommitted option.

Looking at the recent high school rankings on Flo, has me feeling pretty good about the future of the Bucks
120 #3 Munretto (26)
126 #2 Mills (26)
138 #2 Brown (26)
150 #2 Grajeda (27)
190 #1 Waters (26)
215 #1 Boyle (27)
In addition, Nick Singer (27), who was at one point ranked 1st at 175 is now #18 at 190. I'm not sure what happened there but maybe he ends up a 184 and Waters a 197. Either way that a lot of talent and they're sure to add more to the class of 2027.

Grejada has shot up the rankings. Boyle has also been climbing and dominated the number one previous guy. Singer was a top 10 overall recruit and one in his weight. and has fallen fast in last 10 months. Now 18 in his weight. Ouch. Only two schools are out recruiting Ohio state.

Singer dropping so far is an overreaction. He got upset in the PA state tournament and this reflects that. He is very good and I’m excited to have him.

It’s a little bit more than that drew. He came into the season last year as the hottest guy in the nation and ranked number one at his weight and I think 6 p4p Then he lost 5 matches during season and then lost to an unranked kid at the us open. His stock is definitely falling and a little concerning.

Looks like Bouzakis will not be back down at 125 (per an interview he did I think yesterday).

Yes, I’ll try to post the related Instagram link.
But says it was “horrible” (and worse), that it eventually caught up with him, and that after Day 1 of the NCAA tourney he was 12 pounds over.
Blech.

Does he say in the interview whether he's looking to go 141 or sit behind Davino or transfer?

^^^ Nope, no reference or insight.
Did say he may potentially go 125 in freestyle, but only because that's a one-shot weigh-in.

The longer the season goes, the more difficult it becomes to make the cut. Your body wants to cling to every pound. Your mind and body are at odds. Just doesn't work well long term.
Bouzakis comes across as a very likeable and decent young man. I certainly hope he's able to finish his career with the success he deserves.

On balance, Bouzakis at 125 was a big success and few of us including me believed it would be. He crushed some very good competitors and was as instrumental as anyone to the Bucks winning national duals. He deserves our praise and respect for navigating a very uncomfortable cut.
Rooting for him to finally make the podium in his final season. I hope it’s for Ohio State.
