"Devil's advocate--should they have pulled Welsh's shirt?"

I'm generally pro redshirt but the Welsh situation I'm fine with. They don't have a viable 174 on the roster after Carson went down. I suppose they could throw Carter Chase out there as an undersized fill-in, but you're essentially forfeiting the weight from December - March if you keep Rocco on the bench.
He's much closer to a finished product than Rogotzke, and he can realistically compete right now for AA honors. If I had to guess I think he falls just short. There may be an opportunity to use his redshirt down the line.
Rogotzke has lost badly this year to several unranked wrestlers. He's definitely capable of beating some ranked guys but he's got some exploitable weaknesses if anyone cares to prepare specifically for their match with him--which they will in the post season.

Quote from Rex Holman's post:

"Those wins while lopsided on behalf of the Wolverines seemed like just wins. Whereas the Buckeyes wins felt like they were heartfelt and emotional and a result of being part of a team that really cared about the outcome of this meet. When you have Rogotzke up 14 and not looking for a takedown but a pin, that's awesome. When you have Feldman who should lose to Davisson on paper, does everything he can to secure a decision and team win, ballsy.
Anyway, that was probably my second favorite dual of all time."
|
Well said.
If that was your second favorite dual, what is your favorite?

Thought you might be thinking of this one.
That dual was incredible. One of the few times St. John didn't feel like the wrong venue for the occasion. When Demas took out DSJ the roof blew off the place.
Garcia and Campolattano... what could've been with those two.

I was still in my 40's when commenting on that thread. Bittersweet to read the words of Patrick Campbell. May he rest in peace.
