"I'm generally not in favor of taking the rights away of the many who are legitimate because of the few who aren't.
But I get it."

Are you positive of that differential? I'm not -- after what I've seen in schools.

"I know there are many here who consider Taylor an "Ohio" boy, and even know him. I'm in the minority, but I've never really considered him an "Ohio" kid, and I'm not really sure he thinks that either. I do like Taylor though."
|
I don’t think you should be in the minority there. Taylor has made it abundantly clear in the past that he doesn’t consider himself to be one. I recall one of the first things he thought prudent to do after leaving Graham was to $(@~ on his legendary coach, program, and Ohio wrestling in general.
Personally prefer that he’s not associated with the state.

They clearly had a falling out but seem to have patched it up. D.T. mentioned having learned from two legendary coaches, "Coach Jordan in High School and Coach Cael at PSU" so it seems it's water under the bridge now.

What’s the story between Taylor and Graham?

Taylor's Dad moved David to Ohio specifically to attend Graham. If you move to a state for a specific program, that makes him one of your own.
David Taylor is a type A, hyperactive young man who was previously a Type A hyperactive kid. These qualities made him a great wrestler (came could be said for Alan Fried).
I wouldn't hold him too accountable for comments made several years in the past.
My guess is he's not as suited to being a head coach as his mentor, Cael. But we will find out.

I heard originally Dad Taylor called a private school in Cincinnati but they didn't get back with him and then he ended up at Graham. Whoops. :)

I think almost everyone who the USA sends is a contender for a medal. I think there are certainly people that can win Gold, but I don’t think there’s anyone on Team USA that could d be shocked if they DIDNT win.

You can bet the Moeller coach has regretted that for many years!

USA wrestlers that appear on the scene suddenly and have an outstanding offensive attack have a great track record internationally.
i.e. Stephen Neal, Jordan Burroughs, Kyle Snyder, Gable Steveson. AB fits that pattern.
My prediction is 4 medals for Team USA. think AB gets gold, Dake gets silver, Snyder gets bronze, and either Lee or Parris gets bronze. Purely speculation but my feels. Also, I think USA gets hosed in a match by the refs and someone USA gets eliminated early.
I'm mostly average with speculation but this follows past patterns. Hopefully they do better and not worse.
