Where do you think I’m wrong. I think I’m being pretty unbiased.
3 finalist? Mendez has already proven to be a champion
Welsh-184 has completely cleared out, welsh has been taken down exactly twice all last season. Ferrari and Mcnelley and him will be top three I think finalist is a real possibility.
Feldman-285 9 of top 12 are seniors. Him, Kueter, Trimble top 3. I don’t see Kueter winning a rematch ecspecially on a nuetral mat.
Say we get 1, and two second places out of those three. That is 20+16+16=52. Then bonus points another add another 8 points. That is 60 points
Bouzakis- can beat everyone but also lose to all the top 10. He is a better tournament wrestler I feel. It may be a weight cut. He absolutely killed Knox 17-7 at cklv who is a top 5 guy. If he’s not all American he should at least be close
davino has wrestled 6 ranked guys and has been taken down zero times. He is likely a high all American.
Cannon-didn’t wrestle in high school for a whole season bc of a rare disease so his development was slowed a lot. Has looked really good and I expect him to progress. Flo has him at 10 currently and should be better next year. I think he’s like 17-2 and beat chittum and askey was his only real losses he got concussed his other loss.
Paddy problem is just staying healthy. He has beaten several all Americans.
197 we get a lot better bc of graduation 12 of top 18 are seniors.
125-mccrone will score points also and he usually bonuses when winning.
82.5 and 72.5 have been runner up scores last two years.
So you don’t think between the 7 other weights we can score 23 points? Or you think the big three aren’t finalist?
That’s not even including carson or any potential portal guys. 82.5 points should be highly attainable

Having been on this forum for a decade & and half, I would suggest you go back and read some preseason posts. Each year begins with predictions like this - all based in data with a pinch of optimism. But yet, things never quite work out as planned.
College wrestling is many things. One of those things is unpredictable. Especially when trying to give future results for ten individuals.
ps: Are we getting the Pick'ms Contest going again this year???

IMO, regarding 184, Iowa has Arnold wrestling there this year, and between Ferrari/Arnold, Arnold is the shorter of the two, which leads me to believe Ferrari would move up to 197 after Buchanon finishes. Ferrari has already grown a lot since HS, and he looks like the better wrestler to me. Time will tell I guess.

Ferrari will not be going up to 197 unless A.J. goes heavy. They will not compete against each other. A.J. has two more years of eligibility. They also have the number one 190 pounder coming in Ludington. Ludington didn’t commit to sit the bench. He will be the 197. Arnold 174.
As far as predictions for this year they went way out the window when Ohio state conceded two starters and every single sixth year senior decided to come back and Hendrickson even got out of Air Force. Ohio state is hoping to just get a trophy. Fourth on a good weekend. Last year not one single wrestler lost to a lower seeded opponent other than Rocco against Starrocci
Edit: people think that A.J. will actually be at Iowa next year. I wouldn’t be surprised if Iowa accepted him back even after the soldier salute incident. Iowa will be very good from 165 up next year and if A.J. comes probably are favored over the buckeyes. If Bassett reclassified they would very very good. They are weak at middle weights.

I’ll try this again.
I don’t think Nick is that far off on his projections for next season. There are a few things that we don’t know…
- Is Carson coming back?
- Can we stay away from the injury bug?
- Who will we (and others such as Iowa, OSU, etc.) pick up I’m the transfer portal?
Knowing what we know today, I think Nick is pretty accurate. He also brings up a good point about the 5th and 6th year wrestlers are now a thing of the past. That also hurt us this season and in previous seasons.

Nick,
Presuming I'll win the 2025 NCAA #PizzaHut bet and you'll honor the loss, would you like a chance to win your $20.00 #PizzaHut gift card back in 2026?
I'll bet you a $20.00 Pizza Hut gift card (again, brokered with oversight from Mark "The Mighty Cruiser" Niemann) that THE Ohio State Buckeyes do NOT place 1st or 2nd as a team at the 2026 NCAA championships.
Deal?

Justin let me see what A.J. Ferrari does and kharclaha does. Third is the absolute worst this team gets. Iowa will be only team close and could pass the buckeyes. . I’ll do double or nothing.
Ayala
caliendo
Arnold
Ferrari
Kueter.
Can’t really predict transfer portals. I can say with anlmost certainty Ohio state is getting 2nd or third. Oklahoma state will need a couple years. They lose seven seniors and probably about 70 points. They can’t pick up enough pieces in transfer portal. Best guy returning is spratlety who isn’t even a gaurenteed all American.

Not sure how credible it is but a couple of post on Bucknuts suggesting that Bucks could land Lachlan McNeil next year.

How anyone is even CONSIDERING eating Pizza Hut - BY CHOICE - in 2025 is a complete mystery to me. But I'm down to oversee this challenge.
Carry on, men.

Fair enough; no need to "double or nothing". How about I give you until November 1, 2025 to accept?
I heart the Buckeyes but my theory is that they haven't yet figured out how to maximize the stewardship improvement of individual team members (see many of Rex's posts) nor do they have the $ or mercenary will to bring in "turnkey ready" NCAA tournament scorers. Throw in the reality that they will also need favorable providence and I think mine is a reasonable contention.
And, Niemann, haters gonna hate. : ) #PizzaHut

Jim, I have not heard anything about a McNeil transfer, but it wouldn't be shock as UNC is struggling as a team.
I think if Ohio St does dip into the portal it'll be for a 197. Geog injury history being the main reason. I am still hoping to land a few solid 2026 recruits, but if the well runs dry as it has the last year or so i'll be curious to see how much $ we have for the portal- while also leaning largely on who enters said portal after the season.

I think I’ve proposed this before but isn’t Rogo a possibility for 97?
