"Ryan screwed Cannon.
Did paddy do anything?
Karchla...I was a big fan. Good luck to ya."

I think Paddy took 1 shot in 2 matches and it was more of a desperation shot.
Carson was in on so many shots but always seems so uncomfortable in scramble situation.
Good thing they RS Welch.

Kueter just a better wrestler than Feldman. 3 matches no takedowns and the gap is widening. Nick better find some kind of rhythm that he hasn’t shown all year tomorrow or he will not podium. Good for Shumate! He’s always been the other guy in college. Now one match from the podium.

As crappy as the day has gone, Bucks are tied for 4th. Demilio and Mendez will have tough but winnable matches. Bouzakis has Ayala but is on his A game. Seth Shumate is playing with house money. Problem for the Bucks is you wonder who's going to make a run thru the cons? 165, 174 and 184 are all eliminated. Feldman looks shaky although he's in position to make a run. Cannon starts off with a tough Ed Scott. And if McCrone wins he probably gets Rivera from Wisconsin. I have no idea what's going to happen. Fingers crossed.

I was watching the Cannon match on an ESPN+ feed with no announcers but you could hear the crowd, arena announcements, and some mat talk. You could hear what Tom was saying when arguing with the officials. He wanted names of the officials who reviewed the call. I heard him say "J. R. Johnson, no surprise". I "phoned a friend" and found out J. R. Johnson is a "terrible" ref from Oklahoma.

I don’t understand or agree with throwing the challenge brick n that case (up 3 with opponent flat on his stomach with 78 secongs left in the match) — but Cannon got absolutely screwed by the officials. In. O planet is that not, at a minimum, 2 near fall.

I would have thrown the brick. I thought there were more back points. I'd rather be up by four or five. I would not think there was a possibility of losing the two back points that were given. At least two were earned and I'm pretty sure even honest Oklahoma State fans would agree.
Knowing in advance that the official reviewing the video is from Oklahoma would make me think twice about it. Unfortunately, as far as I know, that is not something coaches know at the NCAA tournament.

I see why he did, but I just wouldn’t have. When the brick came in, I told the friend watching with me “why would you stop the action there?”

Bad moment for Tom.
However..
I’m not convinced Cannon earned nearfall. I’m also not convinced David Taylor wouldn’t have thrown the brick had Tom not beaten him to it.
I want Cannon to forget it and move on and having a great day so I’m committing to doing the same.
Let’s go Brandon!

Tom did screw up, but no excuse for Cannon getting manhandled in OT. Yep, moving on.

Other guys are allowed to wrestle also.
NCAA Wrestling is hard. Alierz and Figs both go 1-2 and DNP.

There were two back to back situations in the Fish-Cannon match where Cannon could have received back points. I was thinking Coach Ryan threw the brick to get 2 back points immediately after the reversal. It's hard to tell what happen because the ref was in the way of the camera. The ref already gave Cannon two backs for the 2nd turn. I'm not sure how replay works exactly, but they obviously reviewed the whole sequence and decided no back points. Could Coach Ryan have been a little more clear that he only wanted the first set of back points reviewed? Then the OK State coach would have to toss his own brick to get the 2nd set of backs reviewed?

This is an FYI from an NCAA official. It is NOT my writing.
"So a newer rule in college is that you can look at everything within a challenged sequence. Tom Ryan challenged that the reversal took place earlier than it was awarded, and that 2 sets of nearfall should’ve been awarded. That starts the sequence from the beginning of the scramble and ends it when Fish returns to his belly. Now everything that happens within that sequence is looked at, and they determined that no nearfall was earned at any point. "

Thanks for the link. The original call should have been confirmed. No 2 after the reversal. 3 swipes for 2 a couple of seconds later.

Thanks Jim, for the info, I was wondering.
