"Ohio State's best performance years were when Tervel Dlagnev was an assistent coach. What have been Nebraska's best performance years? When Tervel has been a coach."

Bit of revisionist history here. Under Tervel we were all complaining how bad we were on bottom. Now our problem is we don’t score enough takedowns.
I don’t pretend to know the answer. But I do believe this season calls for Tom to deeply evaluate the program. Recruiting and athlete development aren’t where they need to be.
Tom also should look at training methods and scheduling. Too many injuries that linger and don’t get better.

""No bad teams, just bad leaders." Jocko Willink
Tom Ryan raised the bar and taken Bucks to heights never seen at OSU...but heavy is the crown and staying on top is way harder than climbing to the top.
My main issue with Ryan is his focus on suffering. That you have to go through pain to be hardened enough to be a champion.
I have no insight on how Bucks coach practice but when I read Rex's posts about technique vs grit I tend to think Ryan is from the old school of Gable and suffering and grit are higher on the list than technique.
Next year is the tipping point for Ryan in my opinion. No excuses."

Most of this is fair. He addresses suffering in general a little broader than reflected in this post. But he does talk about chosen suffering. His year has been hampered by unchosen suffering that has caused him a lot of distress. In another thread some time ago there was a link to an 8 minute video where he speaks of thoughts of self harm after the accident, which was brutal.
I do think it pivotal that significant improvement be seen with the talent next year. There is no question he will put in the effort. Has time passed him by? In my opinion, it has for the Brands.
As to the challenges they lose, no one will convince me Cannon didn’t have 1 set of 2 backs. Taking those away was absurd.
I also thought the challenge in Jesse’s match was smart. If that sequence had occurred in the first period, don’t do it. In the third, that close to the end, why save the brick when you can steal the win. In my opinion, that was close enough to try it.
On some of the others, I think he puts on his Scarlett colored glasses to support his guys but really needs to be more judicious.

"If you take a way all the guys wrestling in their 5th NCAA tournament where would bucks be in team standings?
I would like to see Bucks bring in a young guy outside the program even as a graduate assistant."

Probably not very high. D’Emilio’s points would be missing."
|
Yeah I realized that about an hour after posting.
I’m also assuming Feldman potentially places with 4-5 guys gone and add
cannon to that. Fortunately they had that opportunity but didn’t get it done.
Still impressed with Cannon and think he will only get better.

100% agree with you here. I think the Jesse challenge was a good challenge. I think Cannon's was not. Up 3, 78 seconds left and guy is flat on his belly. Let it ride!!
