"Paddy G and Luke G both have realistic routs to be an AA.
Paddy G in a battle with 8 seed Bianchi and gets the W -- despite being called for stalling 2x in <2 seconds."

I’ve never seen anything like those back to back stall calls on Paddy. Unbelievable."

and Kennedy went straight back for a couple minutes and only is called 1x.
Nic B should have taken lessons. SMH

Scrambles for the love of scrambling, not for the purpose of winning a match.

Hepner and Gallagher are facing each other for 7th & 8th place tomorrow, how ironic. BTW, how was that leg attack by Davino in OT not a TD? That no call was ridiculous!

What an evening!
- Davino: Have no idea how that wasn’t a take down. The longer the second review went on the worse I felt, as it felt more and more like a robbery in plain sight was unfolding. Luckily, the deserved outcome prevailed. The final is so intriguing.
- Mendes: Stanich didn’t do anything, but did a great job of it. Likely not how Jesse thought it would go, but great job of not getting in his head and executing when the moment presented itself.
- Cannon: Did not expect to see him dismantle single digit seeds due to the injury. Great performance!
- Paddy: So poetic to close out his career back at home with his first AA. What a gutsy tournament.
- Carson: So happy he gets to close out his career with another AA. A lot of folks thought he should have moved on, but he’s had a really nice year. Very tough draw to get Kennedy and Ruiz back to back. Huge performance.
Geog: Very solid work to run through backside to R12.
Non-OSU related, but what a tournament Stanford is having with a young team.

For what started out as a great tournament, then getting hammered a bit in the middle has turned out very well i think. I really hope we can have a solid finish in the finals.
I really put OSU at #2 but i didn't follow the other teams, i knew Nebraska and OKstate were going to be contenders but they have had a great tournament.
Not sure how osu looks next year, we are loosing alot.
I feel for Feldman. As highly touted as he came out of HS, its just been a rough go for him.

Does anyone know what was wrong with Feldman? It was hard to watch him wrestle. You could tell he was not himself this weekend.

Someone said on another board it was an ankle injury.

So happy for him. He's been through a lot during his time at OSU. He played the long game and kept at it. That's a story of perseverance and will. This sport doesn't care about feelings and each match is a test of your preparation and readiness.
Placing in Cleveland, being from St Eds, and the nonlinear trajectory of his career make it nothing short of greatness in my opinion.

After witnessing the Thursday night debacle in person, last night's performance, which I was also fortunate enough to watch personally, was a true sports high for this wrestling junkie.
Hope the Bucks can finish 7-0 today.
Can't ignore the fact this weekend has been an overall disappointment. Tom Ryan's team wrestled way too many hard matches during the season and it showed. Yes, Davino and Jesse can handle it. But those two are wired differently. Anyone could see Fishback fading hard after wrestling tough opponents almost every dual. On top of National Duals. And Big Tens. That guy desperately needed a break. Bucks would rather win meaningless duals than hold guys out, risk the loss and have them ready for NCAA's. We always want to see the team win but that has to be balanced against the need for rest, recovery and sensible training.
Rex's comment about how the Tom Rowlands and Jesse Mendes of the world can thrive in any environment resonates. Training and competition have to make sense.
Random thought--Brandon Cannon's injury might be the reason he made the podium. He was forced to take time off.

Thanks for your insight Hank and agree with you. I meant to post to Paddy thread.
Everyone's durability is different. I would argue that wrestling season is way more more tolerable on some wrestlers than others.
When you gain perspective on it, you realize the coaching ranks are filled with more of the former rather than the latter.
The result is a culture in which everyone trains and competes with the same amount of volume because that's the way it is done.
There are a lot of fine wrestlers out there, like Hepner for instance that will thrive in an environment where they have some control over the amount of volume they engage.

There is a two week break from B1G to NCAA's. Unless they just grind incredibly hard those two weeks, you should be fresh (minus those with injuries) heading into the NCAA's. JMHO.
To my eyes, Fishback was more mental (lost belief losing all those close OT matches) than physical.

Good point Brady. I’m not sure that holds true for Nick B and Ethan since their weight cut takes a little out of them each day, each week, etc. I think it finally caught up to them at nationals with a 3 day weigh in.(or 2 in their situations)
As far as Nick F and Fishb they were both hurt and it truly showed. The other form is putting a lot of blame on the coaches. I love Rex’s points on catering to that wrestlers needs and it’s not happening enough in wrestling as a whole. Maybe they can all take a little out of Cale‘s book and not grind so hard during the long season. Many are grinding during the off-season as well.
